They know the drill, and get their guys out of here before Duchess’s truck rolls in. Carver and Hawg, they can be trusted with our lives, and with the women’s lives that depend on us getting them into that truck and letting them head north to a better life.
I’m not usually this way, but there’s something about the way that Lacey coming back to our club has my guts twisted up. She wasn’t with us for long, hell, not long at all. And she has a twin sister, and she wants to leave her, and travel half- way across the country and stay with us?
The question is all that’s on my mind now and my internal instinct is just continually screaming that something is not right. I should pull Pearl aside. If it’s got me this messed up, she needs to be brought into the loop.
She settles herself on top of a picnic table in the back and puts her boots on the bench seat as I slide in beside her. “I know everyone voted okay to bring Lacey in, get a feel for what she wants short term and longer term, but something just doesn’t feel right. It feels really fucking wrong.”
Pearl doesn’t speak for a moment, but when she does it’s quiet. “You heard them at church. They were excited to get Lacey back. They think she’ll bring some new energy into the club.”
“I see.”
Her knowing eyes meet mine. “You’re not convinced she’s a good fit for the Harlots?”
I shrug. “I didn’t assess her that way while she was here. I guess time will tell.” I trust Pearl with my entire heart and if she says we need to bring Lacey in, then we do it, but the fact that I don’t trust Lacey weighs heavily on my mind far after we’ve eaten and into darkness of the night.
But Hawg knows exactly how to take my mind off what’s coming for a few hours, carting me off to bed for a roll in the hay. Keeping my mind on every touch and caress of my skin, and every feel of his pulsing muscles and every orgasm that we reach.
When I roll over, spent and satiated, Hawg’s warm chest and arms embrace me, lifting me onto his lap as he lays beneath me, rubbing his dick against that special spot, getting me wet before he thrusts up and inside. And when he tells me to ride him, I’m already there, gliding up and down on his rod while my hips swivel just right.
This is what trust gives you, the freedom to be your best, your worst, and your very true self when the person you’re with just wants your world to be right.
And Hawg does, but he’s only going to let me have the reins for a short time, rolling me over and driving against that special spot, the one he knows exactly how to hit time and time again, until my legs are wrapped around him and I’m screaming his name.
I curl into Hawg, my hand sliding down his abdomen, and that strong firm six pack that leads right to his groin. His hand wraps into my hair, drawing me into a kiss. “This life we lead, it’s not for the faint of heart. We both have responsibilities that take a great deal of our time, but I want you to think about truly being mine.”
I swallow as his finger circles the sensitive spot of my nape. “I am yours, I told you that.”
He rolls over me, caging me with his hands to each side of my head, settling on his knees to keep his weight from crushing me into the bed. “I love you, baby. This thing we have, I want it for a lifetime. Marry me? Be my ol’ lady.”
In a million years, I would not ever have dreamed that I would want to say the words I do to any man in the world, not now, tomorrow or ever. As I look at Hawg’s gaze, meeting it head on, I know he’s the one for me. Two hearts meant to be together, to ride by each other’s side and protect each other from those who would want to do us and others harm.
I caress the side of his face with my hands, drawing him lower to kiss him. “I love you, Hawg. I love every single thing about you, and I will definitely be your ol’ lady.”
His eyes brighten and he gives me a wide grin before crushing me with the weight of his kiss, one that promises everything he’s offered and so much more. “The crews aren’t going to believe this,” he says.
I smile because I bet the only one who isn’t going to be surprised is Skye, who keeps smiling at me every time Hawg is anywhere near. The others, they may just think it’s my first fling with a nearby crew member, but not Skye. “I can’t wait to tell the ladies that we’re getting married.”
He kisses me tenderly. “The time, baby.”
I glance at the clock on the wall. “It’s time,” I tell him as we both grudgingly get out of bed, get dressed and ready to get the ladies out of the safe room and load them onto the truck. And welcome Lacey, who’s become a source of constant concern in my mind to our club. I inhale a deep breath. “Let’s do this.”

HAWG
Taze is around back when the truck pulls in just like we planned. If I’m not available at some point in the future I want my VP to know exactly how to handle the situation with these trucks.
The driver opens the back of the truck while Lacey gets down from the cab, her blue eyes scanning her surroundings with angst for a moment before smiling first at Pearl and then at Onyx as she closes the distance between them. “Thank you so much for letting me come here. I just needed a change. I promise, I won’t be any trouble.”
There’s something about this girl that just doesn’t feel right. Maybe Onyx is onto something that makes her second guess the Harlots’ decision to bring her back into the club, but hopefully time will prove her wrong.
Skye and Brandy help the ladies who’ve been hanging out in the safe room all night and day through the closed-up bar and into the back of the custom air-conditioned truck that will keep them protected from prying eyes on their journey, all of the Harlots giving them hugs and wishing them well. The journey won’t take too long, then they will be free.
They will be in great hands with Duchess. There’s no one better. She will treat these ladies just like family, sisters, because she knows exactly what it feels like to have life kick you in the gut.
That alone makes me wonder for the umpteenth time, just like Onyx, why the hell Lacey would leave her twin sister and a place as great as Duchess provides.
There’s not two men in the world that I trust more than Carver and Taze. “This is Lacey. She’s going to be spending some time with the ladies, to see if she’d be a good fit for the life. She came to the Harlots last year the same way. In from Vegas, and the ladies got her and the others with her into the safe house before shipping out to Duchess. The same way the other ladies will be going north tonight.”
