“Yes,” I snarl, not really wanting to answer questions about it.

“So does that mean you like dudes too?” Swamp grins then wipes the look off his face when I move towards him. “No judgment, man, just curious.”

“Just us,” I bark. “Go the fuck home.”

Mounting my bike, she prowls to life like the perfectly tuned beauty she is, and I take off, leading the way to Logan’s apartment, while the others turn around and head back to the clubhouse.

After settling Logan in inside, we remain quiet about standing guard all night because we don’t want her to invite us in. Not yet. First, I need to find out if Ian and Connor know where she lives. If Euphoria didn’t have cameras on the outside, I’d have killed those fuckers right then and there. But I’m not doing prison time for pieces of shit like them.

“So, we’re killing those fuckers soon, right?” Priest asks as we watch the apartment lights go dim as the girls all hit the sack.

“Yeah. I’m thinking within the next 48 hours. You good with that?” I’ve already made an inquiry to Chux, the president of the Alabama chapter in Freedom Falls, to see if he’d send a prospect into Montgomery tomorrow and let us know when our unwanted visitors arrive back home.

“Chux know we’re coming?” Priest reads my mind.

“Yup, prospect will be checking in tomorrow.”

He nods, and we continue to keep an eye on the street from a hidden driveway a few houses down, across the street.

The remainder of the night plays out much the same, quiet and uneventful. By the time we return to the compound, exhaustion has fully set in, and I don’t even notice the hidden cruiser on the highway, camouflaged between trees.

“What the fuck.” Pissed off, I get off my bike and prepare to square off with the dickhead looking to meet some quota. “Problem?” I look the cop dead in the eye while Priest remains behind my bike, straddling his own still.

“You were going ten over the limit,” he stammers out. His young ass has no fucking clue, and I’m not in the mood to teach him a lesson.

“Ten. You want to hit me with ten over? You fucking serious?”

Watching him swallow as his steps falter, I can tell he’s new on the job, and it’s likely one of his first times out on his own. He has no fucking clue what to do with us.

“Call your fucking boss.” I cross my arms, lean back on my bike seat, and wait for him to make a decision. He heads back to his unit and takes off, sirens flashing, fishtailing on the gravel.

“Tuck and run, huh. They sure aren’t training them like they used to,” Priest laughs as we get back on our bikes and continue on our way. This day can’t fucking be over soon enough for me.

Chapter 20

Logan

Disappointment slammed me hard and fast when I woke up to discover Viking and Priest hadn’t stayed until I woke up. I know they tried hiding after they left, but I saw them parked, watching the building and street throughout the night.

Marie and Connie are gone for the day, since it’s the first time they’ve had off together in a while. They had already made plans to go to a county fair in Biloxi, and they’ll be gone all day. Which means I get to spend the day how I’d like.

What I’d really like is the company of two bikers. I’m just not sure how to ask for it without sounding needy, especially after they refused me last night. That alone had been shocking, and while I sort of brushed it off at the time, it’s all I can think about right now.

In the kitchen, I decide to call Carly while making some breakfast.

“Hey girl!” she answers almost immediately. “Lord, I miss you. It’s so boring without you.”

“Shouldn’t you be packing? You leave in like a week for college.” The saddest moment of my life was when Carly told me she got into the University of Virginia. She’s always wanted to live on the East Coast, and now she will.

“Yeah…” She pans her phone around the room so I can see the mess she’s in. “It’s been slow going. I can’t seem to bring myself not to pack everything I own.” She sighs and pouts before we break out into laughter.

“First-world problems, Carls.” She agrees and takes a sip of her water while I crack some eggs in a bowl to make French toast.

“How are those bikers of yours?” she asks. I must get a look on my face because she squeals. “You are so in love with them.”

Can’t really deny it. I’m pretty sure I am too.

“It makes me nervous,” I admit.
