I plopped down on the couch, closing my eyes and tossing my head back. I was exhausted, even though we hadn’t done anything strenuous, unless you counted morning sex, which I definitely did. I was just mentally exhausted. Having these strong feelings for Kaia and not knowing when to express them, or even how, were taking a toll on me.

Every time I even thought about telling her how I felt, I’d immediately think of her reaction and start panicking. What if she laughed in my face? What if she ran away and I never saw her again? I mean, I knew she felt a certain way for me, considering our current relationship status, but like and love were two very different things, and when faced with the possibility of like being the only feeling she had for me, I refused to ruin what we had and risk heartbreak.

I jumped when warm and tingle-inducing lips caressed my jaw, along with soft fingers tracing circles along my wrists. Kaia knew how to work me up with only a kiss and a soft touch.

I opened my eyes and turned to face her, my smile wide and filled with so much love. The softness in her eyes made me grab her chin and bring her in for a real kiss. Slow and filled with so many promises. Everything I couldn’t say I poured into that kiss.

She sat back so she had room to bring up her hands. “Did you enjoy yourself today, sunny?”

I nodded, glad I could share one truth with her. “I did. This has been the best first date I’ve ever been on.” I didn’t say how much I wanted it to be my last. That thought came out of nowhere and scared the hell out of me.

“This weekend is my turn to take you out,” I said with a grin.

“Just being with you is more than enough.”

I rolled my eyes with a smile at her cheesy lines. “You deserve to be wined, dined, and sixty-nined, if you’re good.” I winked, enjoying the sharp blush that surfaced on her cheeks. “Okay, maybe not the wine or dine part. I have another idea, but the last part sounds rewarding for me as well. What do you say? Can I take you out sometime?”

She laughed when I rubbed my chin like a douche asking her out. “Yes, baby. You can take me out anytime you want. Let me take you to bed so I can end the date with a kiss on your lips.” She wiggled her eyebrows, and I bit my lip at the insinuation of her plan.

“That sounds like the perfect ending to a perfect date.”

Chapter Thirty-Seven

KAIA

“Salt and Soul? What is this place? What are we doing?”

All week, Daisy had been tight lipped about where she was taking me. I tried so many different versions of bribery to get the answer, with no luck. Not even after I made her come in her favorite position. I really thought that would’ve gotten me an answer; she loved sitting on my face. The only thing she told me was that it was indoors so it wouldn’t be freezing.

She smiled and turned off the car. “It’s a salt room. It’s a room filled with Himalayan salt, and they pump it through the air vents too. It’s very relaxing and actually has many medical benefits. We have the whole room to ourselves for an hour to pretend we’re at the beach and to relax with no one to bother us”

I gaped at her, trying not to cry. That sounded like the most amazing thing ever. “Babe, this is incredible. Thank you.” I didn’t know what to say.

When you walked in, you immediately felt relaxed. The place had an aroma that instantly put you at ease, like they had an oil diffuser going somewhere or pumped the scent through the cracks in the walls.

The receptionist was very nice and found our reservation quickly. Since we’d never been there, she gave us the rundown of what we would experience and what other services they offered, one of which included various types of massages I’d be taking advantage of at another time, and led us to our room.

My mouth gaped open as I surveyed the space. It was like they took a section of a private beach and dumped it in the room.

The floor was covered in some kind of sand, and they had beach chairs set up. A large vent near the ceiling in one of the corners of the room released some sort of mist or smoke, and the woman at the frontdesk informed us it was the salt they pumped into the room to fill the air.

There was a small loveseat, so of course, that was where we decided to sit after we thanked the woman who was helping make our experience a tranquil one. She’d definitely be getting a good review later.

It was a little chilly. Daisy smiled and set her bag on a chair before pulling out a blanket. But not just any blanket, my favorite blanket from the house. What had I done to deserve this woman?

“I was wondering why you brought a giant bag. I can’t believe you brought that. This is absolutely amazing. How did you manage to plan all this?” I asked. It was the most romantic thing anyone had ever done for me. I hadn’t thought I could fall harder for this woman, but I just kept falling and falling.

She was just so perfect in each and every way. I didn’t know what I had done in a past life to deserve her, but damn, I’d do it again a million times over if it meant I got to keep her.

“The internet is a wonderful thing, sweetie. Online booking and emailing with the manager made it very simple.”

I smiled and tugged her closer, thinking of a way to thank her for this thoughtful gesture. No one had ever thought of me like this. To rent out a space because she wanted it to be just the two of us. To know I most likely wouldn’t be in the mood to socialize.

It was the smaller things that I noticed. The little things like having my favorite cookies stocked in the house, making sure we always had bath salts around in case I wanted to take a bath, or bringing my favorite blanket from home that made me fall more and more in love with her.

We were snuggling up with the blanket, breathing in all the relaxing salts and red lighting. My arms were wrapped around hers, and she had one hand on my thigh, moving it up and down and making me forget things.

I gave her a look, and she kissed my forehead, lingering there for a few extra seconds before pulling away. My eyes fluttered open, and I released my hold on her arm to start my own caress on her leg.
