The kiss was slow and sweet, like she wanted to take her time, like she wasn’t expecting it to lead to anything, and I didn’t either. I could’ve been happy to stay on that couch, in that kiss with her, for the rest of the day.

She let go, and I pouted when she sat back, even though she was smiling. “How about cinnamon rolls? I’ll help.” She stood up and took my hand, pulling me to stand next to her. My breath caught when she dragged me closer to her and hugged me, squeezing me tightly.

“I think that’s a wonderful idea,” I finally managed after we separated. When was the appropriate time to have sex with someone in the kitchen after you gave them a very sentimental and meaningful gift? Asking for a friend.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

DAISY

“Let’s go before it gets any colder, Kaia!I don’t want my nipples freezing off!”

I laughed and bit my lip at the same time. Daisy was changing, and I got a pretty good view of those nipples. I didn’t want them to freeze off, either. “That would be tragic. Okay, let’s go. I’ll finish up this email later.”

She pouted and walked over to where I sat on the couch and closed my laptop. She straddled my lap, still topless, and drew my face closer to hers until our lips touched softly. I wrapped my arms around her back and tried to pull her even closer to me. I loved when she took control. Sometimes I was still in shock that she let me touch her, and I couldn’t think properly for a good while, anyway.

The kiss was slow and sensual, like we had all the time in the world. I wished we did. I wished I could’ve stayed in that kiss forever, but she pulled us apart before I could let that dream take over.

I frowned when she got off me, but she pulled me up with her and grabbed my waist, moving her hands back to my ass and squeezing. “If we leave now, we can come back earlier and warm up in the shower.” She winked and I groaned, thinking of how badly I wanted to come back already.

She got dressed and I got Duke ready, and we headed to our favorite dog park. It was only a short drive from us, but it was down the street from the bookstore, so there was a good chance Drea and Blair would be there.

I was right. When we got there, Drea and Blair were already there, running around with Milo. Daisy nudged my shoulder and smiled when they noticed us.

“Hey, Kaisy,” Drea and Blair signed as we walked up. Daisy and I had been holding hands on our walk to the park, like we did everywhere we went.

I was trying to get better at initiating any type of PDA. I didn’t want her to think I didn’t want it. It was what I wanted more than anything. I wanted to show her off and brag about how I was with someone like her.

I was just nervous sometimes. I was still waiting for this dream to be over, but everyday it got a little easier. More and more she did things or said things that made me think I could really have what I’d been dreaming about—a life with Daisy.

I rolled my eyes and waved at them. Milo followed closely behind Blair and came over to sniff around us. He had met Duke only a handful of times, but they seemed to get along just fine.

“Hey, guys. Hey, Milo. I missed you buddy.” He ignored me and immediately licked Daisy.Me too buddy. Me too.

Drea pulled back Milo’s leash a bit and took Blair into her arms, kissing the top of her head.

“Why don’t you two gorgeous women sit and relax while Daisy and I go run rampant with these little guys, yeah? We’ve got some things to discuss about the class,” she said.

“That sounds good to me.” I caressed Daisy’s fingers and looked at her, unable to hide my grin when she smiled at me.

“Yeah, me too. Thanks, baby.” Blair kissed Drea softly.

“Have fun,” I said to Daisy. She gave me a soft kiss, tangling our fingers together for a moment. She kissed my nose and headed off with Drea without another word.

I couldn’t hide my blush. We hadn’t really talked about how we were going to be in public, especially around our friends, but I wasn’t about to deny her anything.

I wasn’t stupid. I knew after our meeting, Drea probably ran home and told Blair everything. She probably showed her the camera footage from the night before. I still smiled at the memory of our time in the bookstore. I didn’t smile at the thought of being watched, though, especially not by Drea. I didn’t think I’d ever live that down.

Luckily Drea didn’t seem to be saying anything embarrassing to Daisy. She asked her how things were going with work, and they talked about the store. I knew whatever Drea said, Daisy would tell me later anyway.

I turned to Blair when her throat cleared. “I hate to take you away from drooling over your girlfriend. I just wanted to say how happy I am for you.”

I blushed. I was not drooling over her. I checked the corner of my mouth, just to be sure. She laughed and I scowled at her. “I was not drooling. And I don’t know what we are, honestly. We haven’t really talked about it.”

“Are you dating anyone else?”

I shook my head. “No. I haven’t dated anyone in… a while.”

“Right. Well, is she dating anyone else?”
