“Don’t judge me, but I kind of want to play a game instead. I know it’s my day, but I want you to enjoy yourself too, and I know you can’t really do that with a movie. Plus, there isn’t anything I want to watch. After watching you come for me, nothing else satisfies me.” She winked, and I couldn’t hide my blush.
“That will be happening, but later. What game do you want to play?”
Her grin turned almost maniacal. “My favorite.”
I groaned, twisting my face in disgust. I was the worst at this game, and she knew it. It didn’t matter if it was her favorite, she knew I was terrible and wanted an easy win.
“Fine. You get comfortable and I’ll turn on Mario Kart. You know I’m terrible at this game.”
“If you’d like, you can play me instead. I know for a fact you are a professional player.”
I laughed. “Oh, definitely.”
I kissed her cheek and went to set up the dreadful game. Maybe I’d like it better if I wasn’t awful at it. It was hard for no reason.
After a few tortuous rounds of racing, we finally took a break and threw on a movie we’d seen a billion times, just to have something on in the background.
“I think I figured out why you’re so terrible at the game,” she said, popping a piece of chocolate-covered cake into her mouth.
“Yeah? Please, enlighten me.”
She turned toward me and kissed me slowly. She tasted like chocolate, and I wanted to lick it off every inch of her skin.
“You might do better if you kept your eyes on the track and not on me. Every time I glanced over, you were staring at me.”
I shrugged. “I’m sorry you’re sexy as hell. Maybe be a little less perfect and more frumpy, and I’ll do better.”
She shook her head. “You’re ridiculous. I love you, baby. Thank you for today. It was truly perfect.”
I smiled and brought her closer to me. “Anything for you. I love you so much. Thank you for choosing me.”
She looked into my eyes, and they softened. She was absolutely breathtaking. “I will always choose you.”
She kissed me, and I forgot any doubts lingering in my head. We had chosen each other, and I had no thoughts of letting her go.
I pulled her closer and deepened the kiss, letting it consume me and take me away to that place that was just for us. The place that banished all negative thoughts of not being loved and not getting to keep her. I let that kiss lock in those feelings. I let it say everything it needed to.
After the kiss, she looked at me and her eyes turned darker. She bit her lip and slipped the robe off one of my shoulders and kissed the exposed skin there, causing an intake of breath. She knew what that spot did to me.
“Babe,” I warned. At least, I think I did. The scowl I was trying to put on felt more like a pleasurable wince.
Without a response, she grabbed a piece of marshmallow and took a bite, the food doing nothing to hide her grin.
She signed I love you and turned her attention to the movie, which I knew damn well she wasn’t paying any attention to.
I shook my head, trying to calm my libido, and pretended to watch the screen as well. I wanted her to know I was okay if we didn’t have sex every second of the day.
Was I? To be determined. But would I complain if we didn’t? Absolutely not. While sex with Kaia was… life-altering, I loved her and respected her, and if she wasn’t in the mood, I wouldn’t pressure her. I wanted her to enjoy her birthday however she wanted to, and if that meant watching a movie and eating chocolate-covered foods with nothing else, then that was what we would do.
We sat watching the movie and cuddling for a little longer before I started craving the strawberries sitting on the table, so I reached over to pick one up, making sure to coat it fully in the chocolate.
Before I could bring it to my mouth, she took a bite out of it, and I almost had to clench my thighs together when her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she licked her lips. I didn’t think I’d want to include food during sex, but that vision was making me strongly consider it.
“You like that?” I asked, licking my own lips.
She raised an eyebrow and nodded. “Oh, it was very delicious, but it didn’t drip nearly as good as you do.”
Holy hell!“I love you” was all I could say. I didn’t think I had the brain capacity to come up with more complicated words. At least with saying that, I just had to hold up my pinky, thumb, and pointer finger with one hand. The other was too busy pulling her close to me so I could lick the chocolate off the corner of her mouth.
