“I think you might like this better than the bow and arrows.”
I quickly unwrap it, eager to find out what it is, but when I open the box and see what’s inside, I shoot up from the bed and chuck it at him.
“A vibrator? Really, Kole?”
He pulls out the rose-shaped toy, holding it out to me. “What? I heard girls like getting flowers.”
I pounce on top of him, smacking his arm while he laughs hysterically at himself. Once I land my third blow, he pins my arms to his chest, pulling me so close to him that his breath caresses my face when he speaks.
“Just promise me that you’ll think of me when you use it.”
He releases me, and I jump off him, stepping back until I bump against the wall.
“Get out!” I demand, pointing to the door.
He waves his hands in the air as he moves to leave. “I get it. I get it. You need some privacy, so you can try out your new toy.”
I push him out into the hall and slam the door shut before tossing the vibrator in the bottom of my nightstand.
“Think of me when you use it.”
Yeah, that won’t be happening, that’s for damn sure.
Kole
I know I’m only asking for trouble, but I can’t help it. She’s like the sun, pulling me into her orbit, and I can’t seem to resist it. She’s just too damn charming, roping me in with her laughter and witty banter. Making me feel things I’ve never felt before. It’s like I’m locked in a cage, and she’s the one holding the key.
But this is a dangerous game, and one I have no right playing. Thane’s possessiveness over her is only getting worse. His reaction to her hugging me today was proof of that. I know the last thing I should be doing is getting caught up in the allure of her, but it’s impossible not to. She’s too fucking perfect, and my will seems to slip further away every time I’m around her.
Still, if I’m not careful, I’m going to end up in a Thane-sized shit storm that I won’t be able to survive.
Chapter 31
It’s almost sad waking up this morning without Sienna jumping on top of me, demanding that I get up. Not that long ago, I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life in isolation, and now here I am, having withdrawals from sleeping alone. It’s mindboggling how much has changed in such a short amount of time, and yet I’m almost positive I’ve never been happier.
It really does feel like a fresh start. Like everything that happened with Thane before now was just a nightmare, and I’ve woken up to a new reality. I sit up to rest against the headboard and see the portrait of me staring back. For a moment, I had forgotten all about it.
I toss the covers back and walk over, picking it up. In the light of day, it’s even more impressive. In fact, it almost doesn’t even look like a painting, it’s so detailed. I glance around the room, looking for the perfect spot to put it, even though it feels kind of vain to have a painting of myself hanging in my room. It’s just too beautiful not to be displayed.
Oo, maybe the bathroom.
I take a quick look around and decide the wall right next to the door is the perfect spot for it. It looks much more artsy in the bathroom than in the bedroom, where it feels a bit pretentious. I head downstairs, looking for Thane and Kole, but everywhere I check is empty.
“They’re not here.”
I scream and turn around to see Kieran scowling at me.
“You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Good,” he says, passing by me like my presence is an inconvenience to him.
“You’re such a dick,” I spit back, folding my arms over my chest.
“And you’re such a human.” He says it like it’s supposed to be an insult, and maybe to his kind, it is.
“Can you just tell me where they are?”
“Out,” he answers dismissively.
