“You’re so fucking beautiful.” His words steal the last of my breath, and I stare back at him in disbelief.
“Why would you say that?” I ask, turning around to face him as my legs finally steady.
“Because it’s true.” He tucks my hair behind my ear, and I take a step back as he wanders his eyes down my body, licking his fingers clean of me.
“You can’t say things like that.”
“And why not?” he asks, closing in on me until my ass bumps against the desk.
“Because—”
“Because you’re trying to protect that little human heart of yours?” He traces an X over my chest, slowly dragging his index finger to my hardened nipple, making me ache for him all over again.
“Consider it one of my boundaries,” I tell him in a stern voice before swatting his hand away.
I step aside and grab my shirt, pulling it over my head while he leans against the desk, tracking my movements.
“Fine. I won’t tell you you’re beautiful,” he reluctantly agrees, carving a hand through his hair.
“Perfect!” I reach down to pick my underwear up off the floor, but Thane snatches them from me with a possessive growl.
“Mine,” he says, tucking them in his back pocket.
I don’t know whether to be appalled or amused, but as I take in the seriousness written across his face, a laugh spills from my lips.
“You really are an animal,” I tease, pulling my pants back on.
Thane darts over to me, blowing my hair back with his speed, and picks me up, setting me on his desk.
“You sure you don’t want to stay?” He buries his face into my hair and inhales, making his chest press against mine.
“Positive,” I purr into his ear, earning me a scowl when he pulls back, looking at me like I just slapped him across his perfectly carved face.
“Fine,” he huffs, as he helps me off the desk, making sure to grab two handfuls of my ass. “Go to Seattle and try to forget all about how I make your pussy throb every time I touch you.”
My jaw falls open, and I release a high-pitched yelp when Thane whirls me around and smacks my ass. He darts over andswings the study door open, motioning me out with a cocky grin.
If this is his new way of asserting dominance, I’ll gladly take it. Sure as hell beats the shock collar.
Sienna is already waiting for me in the car with a knowing smirk that makes my cheeks instantly heat.
“Tell me, did you get flashes of Kieran’s naked body when you were staring him down?” I fire off, before she has a chance to say anything.
Her smirk disappears as her mouth falls open, and I snort a laugh, watching her face turn beet red.
“Mio Dio! I did no such thing!”
“Sure you didn’t,” I tease with a wink.
She rolls her eyes, reaching for her seatbelt. “Tell me, Fallon, how did Alpha’s tongue taste going down your throat?”
I gape at her with a playful shove before we both start laughing uncontrollably. After spending most of my life as a loner, it’s nice to finally have a partner in crime.
Kole takes off in his SUV, and I follow behind down the long driveway, glancing back in the rearview mirror. Somehow, a piece of me already longs to be back in the arms of the man I used to loathe with every fiber of my being. I pull my eyes away as the tightness in my chest coils, reminding me just how dangerous this game is that the two of us can’t seem to resist playing. Now, I’m even more convinced that this time apart isn’t only a good thing, but also necessary. When it comes to my heart, that’s one thing Thane can never touch.

It took everything in me not to call off Kole and take her to Seattle myself, but that would’ve only pissed her off, and as much as I enjoy getting a rise out of her, I needed to play this right. She already threatened to stop giving in to the lust when I insisted on sharing a bed. No doubt she’d make good on that threat if I didn’t give her the space she desires. And if she did that, I’m almost certain I would lose all sanity. Her kisses and touches are like air that I need to breathe. It’s worse than an addiction.
