“What do I get out of it?” Kole asks with a cocked brow.
“Whatever you want! Just help!” I run behind his back, using his body as a shield.
“Remember you said that,” he tells me in a low voice, before shooting off toward his brother.
Kole throws his shoulder into Thane’s stomach and tackles him into the snow, but Thane is only down for a second before he sweeps Kole’s feet out from underneath him and jumps back up. I thought that would be the end of it, but the two of them begin to wrestle, taking turns pinning each other in the snow. For a moment, I think about escaping inside while they’re both distracted, but I’m enjoying the view too much to walk away.
Suddenly, they both stop fighting and look over at me with wicked grins. I turn on my heel and race for the front door, but it’s too late. Kole cuts me off, and I spin around to find Thane behind me, the two of them closing in on me like the predators they are. At the exact same time, they each sweep one foot out from beneath me, and I fall back into the bed of snow.
“Careful, Grey,” Kole says, leaning over me.
“It’s slick out here,” Thane finishes, as the two of them look down on me like gods.
They both exchange a quick glance and head inside, leaving me submerged in a foot of snow. And to be honest, I don’t even mind. I came out here to get away, but that urge has long since passed. Thane is hardheaded and arrogant and all-around thorn in my side, but part of me is learning to accept that. Even though he may have the temper of a lion, he isn’t hurting me anymore. And if I’m beingreallyhonest with myself, it’s nice to have someone actually care for my safety—even if it is only because of the bond.
Thane
What the hell was that? One minute we were arguing and the next, we were practically playing in the snow. I’m an Alpha for fuck’s sake. I don’t play and certainly not with a human. But there I was, wrapping my arms around her, enjoying the sound of her thrilling squeals. They sounded like a sweet symphony that I could lose myself in if I wasn’t careful. But that wasn’t even the worst part. The worst part was when I looked down on her, lying in the snow and imagined claiming her body right there in the cold.
But fuck, I couldn’t stop myself. She looked too damn appetizing with her full blue lips that needed to be warmed by mine. Every time her body is laid out, my mind runs wild with images of her legs spread and back arched. If I didn’t know she was human, I’d think she was a damn siren, luring me to my death.
I had hoped Sophia would be able to help satisfy me, but I couldn’t even get hard. It was like my cock only wanted one thing, and that one thing has opposing eyes and a sharp tongue that I want to feast on.
Chapter 34
I’ve been waiting all day for Sienna’s reply, and though her response was delayed, it didn’t disappoint. I pause on the stairs, laughing at the string of ridiculous GIFs.
Sienna:
Caspita! I’m so glad you’re okay! I don’t even want to think about what would’ve happened if Alpha hadn’t found you. You must’ve been so confused. And good thing Sophia was there and knew what to do. Which, speaking of Sophia, what are your thoughts on her? I’ve met her once before and thought she was nice, but super intimidating. Also, any updates on Alpha? Did he say anything about last night? I NEED to knoweverything!!
P.s. I miss you and promise to come visit this weekend! There’s been a lot going on with the vampires and wolves, but I’ll tell you more about it when I see you!
I shove my phone back into my pocket, deciding to reply when I have time to send a voice memo.
“Hey,” Kole chimes from the bottom of the staircase. “I was just coming to escort you to dinner. Sophia convinced Thane to use the secondary dining room tonight.”
“Oh, I didn’t even realize there was another one.”
“Thane doesn’t like to use it because the table is round, which doesn’t provide him a point of superiority.” I laugh, because that sounds just like him. “Oh, I’ve decided what I want in exchange for helping protect you from my brother earlier…”
“What?” I crane my neck to look at him. “You didn’t help! You joined forces with him.”
“Only after I tackled him for you.”
I roll my eyes. “Fine, what do you want?”
“I want to take you ice skating tomorrow.”
I stop walking and turn to him. “Ice skating?”
He shrugs with an innocent smile. “There’s a pond a couple hours away that’s perfect for it.”
“I didn’t take you for someone who ice skates,” I say, running my eyes down his powerful build.
“Well, it’s not like I’m out there doing triple axels and flying camels.”
“Now that’s a view I would love to see.”
