And sexy as fuck.
The song finished, and Spencer stripped off his leather jacket. I saw Brayden step out from the wings, ready to catch it, but Spencer strutted to the edge of the stage and tossed it down tome. The crowd went nuts, screams ramping up until my ears rang.
I grinned and brought his jacket to my nose, breathing in his scent. The leather and chocolate was concentrated along the collar and went straight to my head. I moaned and wrapped my arms around the jacket, needing to hold it close.
Spencer’s nostrils flared and he licked his lips. “Damn, girl,” he mouthed to me, and I blew him a kiss.
He turned and walked back toward the mic stand. My breath caught. The muscles in his back rippled, and the dimples just above the waistline of his low-slung jeans were too freaking tempting. I wanted to lick them.
Sweat glistened on his skin as he slipped on his guitar and spoke to the crowd. “You might’ve heard this one before. It’s by this Californian band.” He winked and started strumming his guitar. Two notes in, I knew it was “Nothing Else Matters”by Metallica.
“Love you, Texas,” he said into the mic, then sang the first line. His voice was magic, haunting in a way I’d never heard before.
As he performed their song, Brayden sashayed onto the stage—noise-cancelling headphones and sunglasses in place—and slipped in behind Spencer, holding his waist and kissing his neck. I watched them together and let the lyrics wash over me. Living their lives their way, trusting each other, and having open minds, but always being close—it was them to a tee. I blinked back tears. They were so beautiful together, and not just in their looks. They were unbreakable. Unshakeable. I loved them.
I really, truly did. Ilovedthem. I wiped away my tears and sucked in a breath.
“You okay?” Carina asked, her head close to mine.
“Yeah. I wasn’t supposed to fall for them.”
“We never are. They sneak up on us like that.” She gestured with a tilt of her head at them, and I followed her gaze. “But youknow, I think they feel the same, if the way they’re looking over is any indication.”
I looked up, and Carina was right. Both their gazes were locked on me. I smiled and wiped away my tears again.
The furrow in Brayden’s brow smoothed, and Spencer flicked his gaze to the crowd momentarily before looking back at me. I blew them another kiss, and Spencer’s lips stretched into a brief smile before he raised a hand and waved it side to side.
The giant screens behind Spencer reflected the crowd—cell phones lit up, arms swaying in the air, and I did the same, letting the music fill me as Spencer belted out the last couple of lines.
When the song finished, Spencer turned in Brayden’s arms and kissed him softly. They pressed their foreheads together, and I saw Brayden’s lips move. Spencer grinned and pulled away before slapping Brayden’s butt as he walked back offstage.
Spencer unstrapped his guitar and held it out to a guitar tech, who ran across the stage to fetch it.
“Welcome to all the ladies in the audience tonight,” he called out. His voice was met with whistles and cheers. “Some of you might have seen that Bray and I attended a pet adoption drive a few weeks back. I found a little lady there that day.”
A picture of Spencer at the drive with Brayden and Midnight appeared on the screen behind him. It must have been taken from one of their Insta feeds. The Warrior Pups sign was directly behind them. Kamirah cheered, and Spencer gave her a thumbs-up.
“The work Warrior Pups does is incredible, and I have them and the adoption center to thank for my baby girl. She hisses as much as me, bites as much as me—” He wiggled his brows. “— and her name is Midnight. I couldn’t walk away.”
When the “Awww’s” in the audience died down, he continued. “We have a few very special ladies here in attendance—Cara,Carina, Cleo, Kamirah, and our Keels. Thank you for the love and support.” He grinned and winked at me.
My heart flip-flopped and my belly filled with butterflies. I giggled like a freaking schoolgirl, nervous excitement coursing through my veins. My face flushed until my cheeks were hot, and they hurt from smiling.
I was high, like I was walking on air and floating among the clouds. I was so freaking in love with them. Tonight was magical, incredible, and I never wanted it to end, but at the same time, I was dying to be alone with them.
Spencer held his hand out, and I knew it was for me—a silent invitation to get up on stage with him. He wouldn’t pressure me. He wouldn’t announce it and make me feel obliged. But God, did I want to go up there. The security guard unhooked the velvet rope from our section and waited.
“Go,” Carina encouraged.
I looked at her, pleading. But I had no idea what I was asking her for.
“You love him. You lovethem. It’s okay to be vulnerable again and let them in.”
I blew out a breath and nodded, then slipped Spencer’s jacket on. I don’t know why, but I needed it in that moment. I jogged up to the stairs, and Spencer met me there, taking my hand. He went to step forward, but I hesitated.
“Brayden?” I asked.
“You want him with us?”
