“I know a lot of them didn’t leave because The Fellowship moved their older children to a different location,” I divulge.

“We’re working on the other locations and locating the kids,” Reaper speaks up.

“Thank you,” I gush.“Thanks to all of you for getting us out of there.”

Beckett holds me close, careful to not wake Zane.“That cult never should’ve gotten that large and right under our nose.”

“It didn’t start out that way,” I begin to say.“I remember when my mom…” I pause remembering what that lady told me about what had happened to her.

My nose starts to burn from trying to be strong and not cry anymore today, but I can’t help the flood door that’s been cracking the more we discuss this entire situation.

“What’s wrong?”Raegan reaches forward grabbing my leg.

“The lady who got me ready at the farm. She’d told me about my mom. That she’d died,” I tell them what she’d said to me.All the women are crying before I even finish, and I can see the anger rolling off the men.

“I’ll find out what happened, Sutton,” Raegan promises.“If there are records of it, I’ll get them.”

“Thank you.I’d like to know where she’s buried at least,” I say.

“I think we’ve had enough for the day,” Melissa says.“We’ve got a very important day coming up, and I want her rested and in the best health we can get her in.”

“Thank you, Melissa,” I reach over Zane and hug her to me.

“I could never replace your mother, but if you ever need anything I’m here for you,” she whispers in my ear.I can hear the quiver in her voice and hold her a little tighter.

Everyone leaves after hugs and the promise of coming back tomorrow for a visit.Once Beckett and I are alone, with the exception of a sleeping Zane, we both just settle into the silence.

“You having second thoughts?”I hear Beckett ask.I didn’t realize I’d gotten lost in my thoughts.

“’Bout what?”I question.

“Me, marriage, this life,” he voices.

This man makes me smile.

“There is no other place or person I’d want to walk through fire with, Beckett Roberts,” I tell him truthfully.

He walks over and cages my head in on the pillow being mindful of our sleeping boy.

“That’s the right answer, Angel,” he says, his cocky smirk painted on his beautiful face.

Today is D day.

And by that I mean delivery day.

Sutton held on for as long as she could and made it to thirty-four weeks.A few days ago her vitals took a dip, and her blood pressure kept rising even with the medication the doctors were giving her.We didn’t want to take any chances, and with the neonatal team, Melissa assures us is going to be the best, we are about to be taken in for a caesarean section to help deliver safely for both my wife and baby boy.

My wife.

The moment that seventy-two hour waiting period was up, we recited our vows in the little hospital chapel.I know it’s not the most ideal way to get married, but I’ve promised her a big celebration and renewal once she and baby boy are out of this prison.

“You ready, Dad?”I hear one of the nurses say as she comes in with a pair of scrubs in her hands and extends them out to me to put on.

“As long as she and the baby are fine then I’m ready,” I say with confidence. What I don’t show is how I’m a nervous wreck on the inside.I’m putting my woman and baby’s life in the hands of someone else, and that doesn’t sit right with me.It’s hard to trust anyone after all the shit we’ve been through the last few months. That is why Melissa, Ian, Raegan, and Ivy will all be in the operating room with us.Ian and Melissa to be an extra pair of hands and to make sure her OB does everything right.Raegan and Ivy are here for moral support and to take video and pictures.Sutton and I decided that once they take the baby to the NICU that I’d be the one to stay with him, and the girls will stay with her.I didn’t like it at first, but once she pleaded with me about someone watching over him, I couldn’t deny her that request.Raegan and Ivy will switch with me once baby boy is settled in, and then I can be with my wife.At first the hospital was against that many people, but Melissa and Ian pulled some strings, and even if they didn’t, I’d find a way to make whatever Sutton wanted happen.

“She’s in good hands,” the nurse assures me.

An older woman comes in with a man by her side.Dr.Doris is in her early sixties with no plans of retiring anytime soon.
