“Everything’s happening so fast I’m sure she’ll understand,” the doctor tries to ease the guilt sinking in.“I can go up to let her know if you want to stay here,” he offers.

I shake my head at the notion. He might be a good guy, but he’s not club, and we take care of our own here.

“I got this,” I inform him then turn to the club enforcers next to me.“I’ll head up to retrieve Raegan. You stay and keep a look out.”

They both nod and position themselves at an angle to cover every entry.

Ian takes me up the staff elevator to the fourth floor where Raegan and Ivy are watching over Sutton while I was forced to leave her side for a few hours.Ian’s phone goes off when we almost get to her room, and he checks the text.

“I’ve got a car crash coming in.I’ve got to go,” he says and stops walking.

“Go ahead, I’ve got it from here,” I tell him as he jogs back where we just came from and out of sight.

Walking past the nurses’ station across from Sutton’s room I take a deep breath and brace myself.Ink, who is the brother watching over her room today, stands from his seat positioned outside her door in the hall.I breathe a sigh of relief as I see Sutton still in the same position she was in when I left a few hours ago.Something doesn’t sit right with me about what Rocky was saying to Stone on the phone before he was killed. He must’ve been so confused, but now we’ll never know what he meant.

“You’re back early,” he greets with a smile and a pat on my back.“Everything okay?”he asks when he sees my expression.

“No, Rocky was gunned down a little while ago,” I lean and whisper.

“The fuck?”he responds.“What do ya mean?”

“I mean he’s down in the morgue,” I grit, anger is starting to build throughout my body as the events from not even an hour ago take over.

“Who fucking did this?”Ink hasn’t been a patched brother for long, but he’s shown his loyalty to each of us over the two years he prospected for the club.

“Still looking into it.Stay alert and watch your back until we do,” I say and he nods.“Don’t know if another attack might be coming.”

I walk past him and enter my angel’s room. The sound of the machines beeping is the only reassurance I have that she’s still here with us.Raegan sees me come in and places her laptop on the rolling cart by her chair near the window.Ivy is sketching something in a notebook but stops when she sees me approaching.

“Hey, how was the auto shop?”she stands and stretches.“Everything is still the same as earlier. The doctor came in and mentioned changing some of the medication because it looks like she might have an infection in a few small areas.”

“You couldn’t stay away for more than a few hours?”Ivy checks her watch.“This is our time with her, we still have three more hours,” Ivy sasses.

My face must show how serious it is for me to be here and not at the auto shop.

Raegan’s smile drops.“What happened?”

I have my back to Sutton because I can’t focus on her while I carry this heavy burden weighing on me.

“Can I talk to you both outside?”I ask.“I don’t want to say this in front of Sutton.”

If it’s true what Melissa told me months ago about her being able to hear and feel the emotions of the people in the room, then I don’t want to put her in distress with the news of Rocky.

“What’s going on, Havoc?”Raegan’s face turns serious, and her shoulders lock back, like she’s ready for battle.

I nod my head over to the hall. She swipes her phone off the tray and follows in step to the hall.I take them down a little ways to the corner of the hall at the dead end.

“What’s wrong?”Ivy demands then crosses her arms over her chest.“Is it about Sutton?Did you find the bastards that did this?”

“A little bit ago, Rocky was gunned down outside Sutton’s house—” I start.

Raegan gasps.“What do you mean gunned down?”

“Oh my God!”Ivy covers her mouth in shock with her hand.

“We don’t know all the details yet but?—”

“Did you bring him here?”Raegan asks and I nod.“Good,” she blows out a relieved breath.“Does Stone and Mom know?Take me to them,” she says in a hurry and turns to walk off.
