“So, I came in here right as the biker was leaving the shop,” I continue.
“Kai,” Noah interrupts.
“What?” I question in confusion.
“His name,” Noah explains. “His name is Kai.”
“I’m still confused about how you got his name first, but yeah, I know his name is Kai. I heard it when he introduced himself to you.” I drink more of my water, needing all the hydration I can get.
“You were too stubborn to ask, and if I hadn’t asked, you wouldn’t even know it. You were too busy having what I would assume, by your current state, was a mind-blowing orgasm. I didn’t have any of those. So I asked his name instead.” I laugh because he’s not wrong.
“You have no idea. This man can EAT.” I wink at him, and we both start giggling like schoolgirls talking about the latest gossip and the boys we like.
Before I’m able to continue and describe Kai’s amazing technique to Noah, a knock comes from the door. Noah stands and goes to open it for whoever is on the other side. We know that it’s not one of our coworkers because they wouldn’t knock. So, it must be a customer. I straighten my posture on the couch to look more presentable, and Noah puts on his customer service mask. He opens the door with a smile. A man is on the other side holding two coffees and a paper bag with a note.
“I have this order for Rachel Roberts,” he tells us, looking first at Noah and then at me.
“I didn’t order anything,” I say, and Noah looks at me, confused.
“The order came from the account of K & L Bar.” I look at him with what I assume might be the dumbest look in history.
“It’s a bar downtown. They usually order coffee around this time from us before their mid-afternoon rush starts. They’re good people. They always tip well.” This is not a clue as to who they are, but I guess it’s a good thing they’re good tippers.
“K & L Bar, you said?” Noah asks, the wheels turning inside his pretty head.
“That is correct, sir. I do have to go, though. Do you want the order or not?” the delivery guy asks.
“Is one of the bar owners who orders from you named Kai?” Noah asks again.
“Yes. And his partner’s name is Leo. They’re long-time customers,” the delivery guy explains with excitement.
I leave my comfy seat on the couch and approach him. “Thank you; I’ll take the order. Have they paid already?”
“Yes. Everything is handled. Enjoy your order.” He hands me the order with a smile.
“Thank you,” I say to his back as he walks away. I close the door and walk toward the couch to set the order on the table infront of it. I open the brown bag, and two slices of cake are there with a handwritten note.
‘Enjoy your coffee, little criminal. See you soon.—Biker Boy.’
Noah rips the note from my hand and reads it out loud. “Enjoy your coffee, little criminal. See you soon—Biker Boy.” He takes the box with the red velvet cake, and I take the one with the chocolate cake. I hand him one of the plastic forks from the bag and one of the coffee cups. I take my previous seat on the couch, and Noah does the same.
“It’s good coffee,” I say as I take a sip.
“Let me get this right. This guy came in here, gave you an orgasm, didn’t ask for anything in return, and sent you breakfast?” Noah asks as he takes a bite of his cake. “God, that’s a good cake,” he adds.
I chuckle. “Pretty much.”
“Just asking for research purposes. How do I get one of those?” Noah jokes.
“Apparently, you have to kidnap him,” I say, and we both start laughing again.
But suddenly, Noah stops laughing. “I still think it was a bad idea to kidnap him. He’s cute, yes, I’ll admit as much, but he gives me a weird vibe. I don’t know.” I nod and take another bite of my cake.
“At least he knows how to pick cake,” I say, and Noah chuckles.
“That he does,” he agrees. “Do you want to search for that video Leo told us about?”
“The one he supposedly filmed during his kidnapping?” I ask.
