I inhaled against the fabric.
It smelled like him and warmth and comfort.
I glanced up to find him buttoning his shirt, his tie hanging around his neck, watching me with a smirk. He was dressed in his game day suit. I mean, men always look good in a properly fitting suit, but Drew in a suit? Out of this world.
He walked over, bringing the edges of my hood up and tugged me to his lips, humming softly against them. His kisses always stayed so chaste when he knew he couldn’t take them any further.
“You good? Looking forward to hanging with Jupiter?”
I nodded. “Yes, but I wish you were going to be here with us, too. I’m going to miss you.”
He brushed his fingers across my forehead, cupping my cheek. “I know, baby, me too. But it’s only for a few days, and it’ll be good for you to spend time together. We can all hang out when I get back. You can warm him up to me a bit more,” hegrinned. “You have the car to go wherever you want, although please keep Jupiter away from the Ferrari. And Ralph is around too.”
I nodded. As always, he’d thought of everything. Everything I could need while he was away, making sure I was taken care of.
I ignored the heaviness sitting in my chest.
The intercom buzzed, alerting us to someone at the gate.
“Go finish getting dressed, I’ll bring him in.” Drew tapped my ass and rushed out.
By the time I’d pulled on some yoga pants and blasted my hair quickly with the dryer, Jupiter had got out of his car into the rain, and sprinted to the house where I could already hear him complaining about the weather.
I ran down the stairs to the bottom, where they were both standing, not looking totally dissimilar. Drew was slightly taller but they were about the same width. Jupe had definitely packed some muscle on since I last saw him. He must have taken my comment to heart about being smaller.
I smirked.
“There she is.” Jupiter held his arms out and I jumped into them. “Shit, have you put on weight? You’re fuck heavy.”
“Yeah, right.” I shoved him. “If you weren’t so puny you’d be able to carry me. Maybe I need to put you on a proper training regime while you’re here. You’ve gone soft in the off season.”
He scoffed, eyeing me up and down in assessment as I stepped back into Drew’s body. “Nah, you look good, Em. Maybe this dipshit does agree with you. Jury’s still out though.”
“Good job I don’t give a shit what you think then isn’t it? Tell it to stay out as long as it wants.”
Drew chuckled softly into my hair, kissing the top of my head.
“Well, as much as I would love to stay and watch this go down, I need to head off.” He held his hand out for Jupiter.“Thanks for coming, man. I know it was to see Emerson, but I appreciate the timing. Honestly.”
Jupiter took it. “No problem. Thanks for sorting out that sniveling cock weasel. Fuck, I hated him so much.”
Drew rolled his lips, nodding in agreement, but didn’t say anything.
“Also I should have said I was sorry about Clevs. Fucking shit luck.”
Drew’s hand found mine and squeezed it. “Thanks, man. I’ll tell him.”
“Yeah, maybe Em and I can go and see him while you’re gone. He still in hospital?”
“No, he’s out and grumpy as fuck, so you should definitely go and see him.”
I listened to the two of them; this was an unexpected turn of events. Weirdly polite, but still, I wasn’t complaining.
“Awww, isn’t this nice, both my boys getting along?”
“Hmmm.” Jupiter scowled at me. “Anyway, man, good luck. Kitchen this way?” He slapped him on the shoulder, pointing behind him.
“Yes, help yourself,” I called after him as he walked off.
