“Totally,” my other friend says, not looking the least bit ashamed of herself. “His face was almost as red as your husband’s dick during shark week.”

“Can we get back to Mindy now, please? Are you trying to tell usthat you and Roger only do it on Fridays?” Her look is incredulous, making me slump down in my chair.

“It’s the only night Rose is out of the house,” I tell her meekly, feeling a little stupid now that I know how much my friends have sex. They’ve both been married a year longer than me, and Aubrey has two kids under the age of three. How do they do it?

“You do realize you’re married, right? You don’t need Mommy’s permission to fuck your husband,” Caroline says, her eyes flashing with disapproval. “Do you, like, wantto do it more often?”

Yes! Yes! God, yes!

“I guess so, but it’s fine.”

Her tone is softer now as her hand closes over the back of mine. “Not if your needs aren’t being met, honey.” I relax my hand, not realizing I had balled it into a fist. “How long has this been going on?”

Blowing out a long breath, I stare down at the napkin in my lap. “Since Rose moved in.”

“Are you fucking serious?”

“I know your mother-in-law lives with you, but when did she move in?” Aubrey breaks in. She and her husband moved to Houston seven months ago, so she doesn’t know the entire story.

“It was… what? A month after you got married?”

“Six weeks.” I turn to Aubrey and explain, “They found mold in the walls at Rose’s house due to a slow leak in a pipe, so Roger moved her in with us. It was supposed to be temporary, but they found out it was going to cost too much to replace everything, and it kind of became permanent.”Without anyone consulting me.

“Aw, sweetie. You guys haven’t really gotten a chance to be newlyweds, have you?” she asks kindly, patting my other hand.

“Not even on their honeymoon,” Caro said pointedly. Our other friend looks between us in confusion. “Rose went with them.”

Aubrey’s big green eyes widened to the approximate size of our dinner plates. “Wh-why?”

“Because Mindy is married to the biggest mama’s boy in Texas,” Caroline says, her eyes finding the ceiling as she gives a frustrated little head shake.

“Don’t call him that,” I scold, pulling my hand away and grabbing asmall handful of parmesan kettle chips from the basket in the center of the table. “He’s just protective of her.”

Deep down I know she’s right, but I hate anyone saying anything negative about Roger. He really is a good man, even if it annoys me when he makes decisions about our life without talking to me.

Diverting the conversation, Aubrey brushes a curl from her cheek. “I have so many questions about this three-person honeymoon. Did she stay in the same room with you?” She looks aghast at the thought.

“No, we had our own cabana.”

Caroline makes a circular gesture with her hand. “Give her the day-by-day playback. She needs to hear this whole-ass story.”

Sitting back in my chair, I sigh. “So it started on the first day. Since Roger invited his mother along at the last minute, we had to shuffle the flight situation. He was supposed to fly out a few hours after Rose and me, but his flight was delayed multiple times, and he didn’t arrive until around midnight. Then he fell on the bed and went straight to sleep.”

Aubrey’s eyes widen in sympathy. “So you missed the entire first day of your honeymoon?”

“Yep.” I take a sip of my water. “Rose and I spent it by the pool sipping margaritas.”

“That sucks, Mindy. Was the second day better?”

I pop an eyebrow. “It would have been if Rose hadn’t come knocking first thing in the morning to bring us breakfast. Just as things were about to get good.” I pause. “And then she joined us for breakfast.”

“Fucking clueless,” Caroline mutters. “Tell her about the excursion.”

My blood boils even thinking about it. “I’d booked us a private excursion to a cave pool. The company offered group trips, but I purposely chose the private one, which cost a shit-ton extra, so we could be alone.”

“So they could have sex in a cave,” Caroline offers helpfully.

My eyes roll toward her. “I think she got that point.”
