“It might actually make sense for Olivia to go,” the Alpha said.

“How so, Primul?” Killian asked.

“It’s better if the members of the Boston Clan don’t know you’re coming and the real reason why. We don’t want to alert anyone who might still be loyal to Forte or want to take over. As far as they’re concerned, they’re just visiting because now that Forte is gone, it’s safe to see their friends and break the happy news.”

The plan was brilliant, but Eli couldn’t help but worry about Olivia. If there was any trouble brewing, he didn’t want her being in the middle of it.

“That works,” Sloane said. “I’ve been locked up and Eli’s been dead, after all. We don’t even have to lie about how we found each other since Olivia and Jacob are cousins.”

“It’s settled then,” the Alpha said. “You leave tomorrow.”

Eli was physically and mentally exhausted, but from the Alpha’s tone, it was obvious there would be no arguing. In any case, the sooner he started this task, the sooner it would be done. “Yes, Alpha.”

“My office will make the arrangements for their travel,” Killian said. “Which reminds me, we should head back to LoneWolf and the party.” He shot Olivia a meaningful glance. “Your mother and brother are waiting.”

Olivia winced. “Right.”

Arch Jones wasn’t going to be initially delighted at the news of the pregnancy, but Eli guessed he wouldn’t object either, seeing as was expecting his own child with his True Mate. However, having never met Mrs. Jones, he had no idea how she would react.

“We can tell them together,” he said.

Her lips pursed. “Actually, I think it would be better if I tell them first.”

“But—”

“You look like you’ve been through a wringer and ready to drop,” she said wryly. “Trust me, it’s better if I tell them first. You can meet the family later.”

“And then the whole family,” Jacob added.

Sloane snickered. “It’s a good thing they all like me, so that should be points in your favor.”

“Ahem.” From the Alpha’s serious expression, it was obvious he was done with them and wanted them to leave.

“Primul.” Killian bowed his head in deference, and the rest of them followed. “Thank you for your time. We’ll see ourselves out.”

Chapter 5

Much to Olivia’s surprise, breaking the news about her pregnancy to Arch and her mother had gone relatively well. They were initially taken aback, of course, and her brother mostly expressed his concern because of Eli’s connection to Garret. However, both she and her father assured them that much like Sloane, he had been forced to do Ronan’s bidding, which allayed their fears.

Not having Eli there had been the best decision. Olivia told them that it was best she and Eli process the situation first. She promised them that they could all meet him as soon as they got back from Boston.

Her mother, apparently, didn’t think much of that plan as she showed up the next day at the basement garage of Lone Wolf Investigations and Security’s office building as Olivia waited for Eli, Sloane, and Jacob to arrive so they could set off for Boston.

“Mom?” Olivia exclaimed. “What are you doing here? I thought you were seeing Arch and Renée off today?” Her brother’s mate was going back on tour. Lone Wolf was in charge of her security, which meant Arch traveled with her all over the world.

“Oh, I think they can manage without me,” she said. “Besides, who’s seeingyouoff this morning?”

“I’m fine, I don’t need anyone sending me off. Jacob’s driving.”

Her mother glanced around. “So, where is this Eli? I kept asking your brother what he was like and, typical man that he is, couldn’t really tell me anything useful. Renée, at least, said he was scary and intense.”

“Wait, Renée knows Eli?”

“Yeah, he was part of her security team when she had that stalker problem. And—” Her mother stopped short, sucking in a breath, her gaze fixing on a spot somewhere behind Olivia.

Glancing over her shoulder, she saw Eli exiting the elevators. Her inner she-wolf licked its lips. Olivia would have done the same as he did look good enough to eat. He was dressed in a white shirt that clung indecently to his well-formed torso, ripped jeans, boots, and his leather jacket slung over one shoulder. A lock of dark hair fell on top of his forehead and those mossy green eyes locked onto hers as soon as he spotted her.

“Oh my.” Her mom fanned herself with her hand. “I can see why you couldn’t resist.”
