“Mhmm,” she hums before making a chomping gesture at him as her teeth click loudly.

He winces before shoving the box into my hands. “Keep her far away from me.” He whispers before returning to his spot.

I open it, and the rose gold princess-cut diamond is sparkling under the lights. It’s a dainty piece with leaves curling around the sides.

Melody gasps, her eyes wide as she takes in the floral design.

“It reminded me of you,” I say softly as I hold it up to her. “Mine is engraved with roses.”

“Kaden…” She trails breathlessly.

I take her hand, slipping it on her finger as I appreciate it. “Do you like it?”

She gapes at the ring. “Oh, this iscriminal. Of course, I love it.”

I smile. “Good. I’m glad.”

She flexes her hand before grabbing my tie and dragging me down to her. “Don’t think you’re getting off easy because I like the ring.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” I muse.

“With the power vested in me by the state of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Saint announces loudly.

I grab Melody’s waist, tugging her close to me as the air becomes thick. “Kiss me, Sunny.”

My lips crash over hers as her hands curl into my hair. It’s slow and sweet, bleeding all the missed years and time. It’s a new chapter, and I let her feel just how desperate I am to begin it.

“Oh, my god,” Mom mumbles before the sound of a body hitting the floor makes us break apart.

Our mother has just fainted.

Chapter sixty-two

Melody

WhatamIdoing?

Why am I letting this happen?

As the reception begins, everyone is brought to a separate room while Kaden holds me back. We stay on the altar as he rests a hand on the small of my back. I don’t realize what’s happening until there are gasps and shouts from the banquet hall. The sound of Dylan’s sex tape plays muffled as it reaches us, and my head whips around to Kaden.

“You…” I trail in shock.

He shrugs. “They deserve to know what he’s been up to behind everyone’s back.”

Dylan’s parents are the first to storm out, their faces red with embarrassment and anger as they stalk out of the venue. Slowly, the rest of his family follows, confused and hurt by the film they just watched. The tape is cut, and my husband ushers me forward.

Oh my god. My husband.

Kaden and I are married now.

This is so…insane.

I’m reeling as I trudge forward with my phantom at my side. He knows this is a lot for me, and he’s being cautious not to frighten me further. It’s a sweet sentiment, but what the fuck…

As we join everyone, it’s surreal to see Ivan’s enforcers trying to start small talk with my friends and family. They’re big and out of place as they converse about the decorations and the hotel. One tries to sweet-talk Kodi, and she rolls her eyes in response before sweeping over to me.

Her eyes glare into Kaden before she softens at the sight of me. “Ignore the brute beside you, but how are you feeling? Do you need to sit?”
