Stupid legs. I tripped in a fit of giggles as an invisible force caught me. Arms circled my waist. I squinted up at glowing eyes, my finger tracing the arch of his brow.

“You’re dangerously wasted, did you even eat today?” Ollie asked. He backed me to a wall- where I didn’t know- but the sounds of the after party still surrounded us. I pouted.

“I want you alone.”

His smile widened. “And what do you want to do with me alone?”

I studied the dark circles under his eyes. Ghosts of reasons for the anxious energy vibrating off him battered the foggy glass of my drunk mind.

“I want to take the pain out of you.”

A mixture of shock, sadness and a tinge of guilt shifted across his face. He bent to my neck, running the tip of his nose up until his mouth grazed my jaw.

“Can I tell you a secret?” he asked, voice like gravel. I nodded- the world bobbed. “Every time I look at you, you take the pain away. Every time I kiss you, it’s lidocaine. And when you tell me you love me, I swear it’s the strongest hit on this earth.”

Him and that sweet mouth.

I arched off the wall into him.

“I love you.”

Eyes like high beams blinded me before his mouth stole mine.

“We get it, you two can’t get enough of each other.”

We broke the kiss, my cheeks burning.

Miss Leah leaned against the counter with a bottle of Jack Daniels, taking shots from the neck.

“To be fair, he’s a fifteen out of ten, I don’t blame her.” Ryan, my dance partner, smirked. He sashayed around Miss Leah, snagging the bottle from her.

“Don’t feed his ego, I do it too much already,” I slurred. They laughed as Ollie tucked me into his side.

Ryan flicked his wrist at me. “You’re shit-faced.”

“I'm pretty sure it's your fault, but thanks for stating the obvious,” I snapped and stuck my tongue out at him. Fingers pinched my waist. I yelped, tilting my head up to see Ollie’s cocked brow.

“I think it’s time to get you home, drunky.”

I opened my mouth to protest when the singular thought of having my boyfriend stripped beneath me popped in my brain. As if the bastard could actually get in my head, a devious smirk tugged at his lips.

“Do you have a ride?” Miss Leah asked, suddenly mother-henning again. All night, she’d made it her mission to keep a close eye on me. I didn’t mind it so much; I never had any siblings, and she was acting like a big sister. It was kind of nice.

“It’s a short walk, we’ll be fine,” Ollie assured her as he guided me out. I waved over my shoulder.

“Later fuckers!”

A chorus of laughter answered me before the door of the apartment muffled them. I bent down, tearing the heels off my feet and wiggled my numb toes. Ollie carefully took the heels from me, failing at hiding his smile.

“Why are you the cutest drunk?” he asked. I rolled my eyes, marching down the hall with him right behind me. “It’s the other way, fearless leader.”

He caught my hand, a small shriek escaped me as he whirled me around, his beaming smile in the dark night like a shooting star. I stopped walking and jerked him into me, grabbing his face.

Something nagged at the fuzzy dome of my brain. I knit my brows, struggling to let it in. I blinked it away. Obviously, it wasn’t important.

"I might be drunk, but I still plan to fuck you.”

A full laugh from him had me giggling. “We’ll see, angel.”
