My phone vibrated in my pocket. With my hands full, I panicked and downed one drink in a gulp while the group howled in excitement. I ignored them, tossed the cup aside and grabbed my phone while the others squeezed to the bar for shots.

Courtney: Just got here, where are you?

I shouldn’t have chugged whiskey.

In the short time we’d been at FUBAR, the crowd doubled; bodies pushed from all directions, drinks sloshed, and girls climbed on the bar top. Subtly, I shifted tipsy peers out of the way, making my way up front.

Holy mother of fucks.I wasn’t prepared for her to look like that.

With her arm looped through a friend’s, Courtney scanned the crowd, biting her red lower lip. Long white blond hair cascaded in loose waves over her exposed shoulders, her light pink tank top dipping over the swells of her tits. Looking the way she did- which was fuckingedible- every single male in the vicinity honed in on her. She was completely oblivious to the way they began angling towards her, craning their necks, drooling over her like a piece of meat.

I moved to approach when two guys swooped in, all charming smiles and swagger. Fire ignited in my eyes, latching onto the one directly in front of her and giving him a firm shove. He stumbled sideways into his buddy, making her friend cackle. Courtney slapped a hand over her mouth as they crashed into a table full of drinks.

That might’ve been overkill.

A waterfall of wells liquor and soda cascaded over the two guys struggling to right themselves. Trigger barged in yelling, “Get your belligerent asses OUT,” while the two guys argued. Taking advantage of the commotion, I stole over to Courtney and her friend. Neither noticed me until I brushed my fingers against Courtney’s shoulder-

Like velvet. My dick bobbed at the warmth of her skin. She whipped around, a pink flush tinting her cheeks when she recognized me. I brushed her hair back and bent to her ear.

“Hey you.”

She smiled shyly. “Hey you too.”

The redhead beside her waved in my face. “I’m Hannah, you must be Ollie.”

Ignoring her, I smirked at Courtney. “Talking about me, Angel?”

Her blush deepened. “You wish. I told her you invited us.”

“Uh-huh.”

She rolled her eyes. “I’m not drunk enough for this place.”

“What do you want then?” I asked. Looking up at me through thick black lashes, she wet her lips.

“Just vodka soda.”

“You got it.”

I turned to guide her through the crowd when tentative fingers hooked mine. My head snapped around, a hesitant smile on her lips. Was this a ploy or was she actually interested in me? Without the ability to break into her mind, it was impossible to know.

Her irritating friend shrieked at the sight of Jack and the DIK guys, taking off and leaving me alone with Courtney. My stomach sloshed. I wanted her alone, right? Get her talking after a few drinks and finally pry the truth out of her. Why, then, was I so fucking nervous?

With the amount of people crammed inside, it took a while to get to the bar. Inconspicuously, I cleared a place for us and ordered our drinks with a glance. The bartender set them in front of us and Courtney shot me a confused look.

“How- you didn’t order,” she stammered. I handed her a tequila shot and lime wedge. She wrinkled her brow and sniffed. Her grimace made me smirk. “This smells volatile.”

“Indulge me.”

“Now why would I do that?” she asked, blushing again.

This was a stupid decision- the risk was too high.

But a voice in the back of my mind told me otherwise. It whispered of fragile hope that maybe my paranoia was pointless. I took a steadying breath and touched my shot to hers.

“Because I don’t offer information about myself for free.”

“What’s the cost for getting to know you?” she asked. The slight tilt of her head was adorable.
