How long has the band been together?

We started when we were 15.

eastcoleman:
Okay, maybe you’re right. But there are other bands that invest a lot of time in their music and aren’t so lucky.
mockingbird:
That has nothing to do with you. By the way, you still haven’t told me how you got started.
eastcoleman:
It’s not that exciting.
mockingbird:
Tell me anyway.
eastcoleman:
It’s a big cliché.

I don’t care. I love clichés.

Beck and I went to music school when we were kids. Our mothers thought it would be good for us to learn to play instruments, so we’d have less time to get into trouble. I’m not sure if they regretted it in hindsight. In high school we met Colin and Jax. We had music class together, and the four of us were put in a group for a project. Basically that was it. We got along and had fun together. After the project, Beck asked if we wanted to continue, and none of us could imagine stopping. Music connected us, even if that sounds corny (don’t laugh)! In the beginning we just played covers, but I was always writing down my thoughts, even as a kid. They were silly diary entries. Eventually they became lyrics, and then we started playing our songs.

It was. We enjoyed writing songs, and we finally found something we were good at. None of us were very good at school, but we could play and write songs well.
mockingbird:
