She couldn’t help but look at his bare ass as he walked, his muscled back perfectly flowing into the tone cheeks, flexing with every step.
A frown formed on her face once he disappeared around the door, rolling onto her back in disappointment of losing her view. She studied the ceiling, a smile forming on her face in pure happiness of what had just transpired.
No more pain or worries of betrayal, at least in the lovers area of her life. She had Kaden forever now, and there wouldn't be a day that goes by she wouldn’t be thankful for it.
His figure walked back out of the bathroom with a wet towel in hand and she watched him crawl onto the bed between her legs.
“Spread them,” he said casually, her eyebrows lifting to him in confusion. “It’s called aftercare, has no one ever cleaned you up after?”
She rose on her elbows, her eyes studying him to make sure he wasn’t joking and shook her head slowly.
“No one has ever made me a priority in the bedroom,” she said shyly.
“You sure have a history of picking awful males,” he scoffed.
“Until you.”
She watched his eyes soften and then lifted the small towel up, a silent command to lay back down. As soon as she was flat on her back, he pushed her legs open and began to gently wipe her clean of their mixed bodily fluids.
The cloth was warm, and she found it somewhat relaxing in her exhausted state. Once he was done, he pushed her legs over so she was lying on her side and disappeared back into the bathroom.
Neither of them bothered to get dressed and when he crawled into bed behind her, the morning light started to get brighter outside. They might not have to go anywhere today, but she knew things needed to be addressed at some point.
For now, they would just let this moment last a little longer and not let the war outside bother them for a few more minutes.
Chapter 54
Awhile later they both rose from the bed, her body already starting to feel sore from his size but she didn’t care. She would take that type of soreness over what she felt from training any day.
She grabbed a cotton shirt and pants from her drawer, knowing they would work best out of all her clothes to keep her from overheating. After arranging her clothes, she quickly braided her hair and glanced to see Kaden staring at her against the main door.
“What is our plan now?” she asked cautiously.
“That is what we are going to go figure out.” he sighed and when she met him at the door, he opened it into the main hall.
She could see the others sitting at the table talking, their bodies kind of tense but looked towards them as they walked in.
Finnley and Raine sat opposite of them, both smiling as they approached and even Xander let his lip pull up on the corners.
When they got closer, everyone instantly went rigid and eyes widened as their nostrils flared.
“Congrats you two.” Finnley chuckled.
She looked at him with a confused look.
“You accepted the bond.” Finnley gestured towards Kaden. “We can sense it.”
“This stays between us.” Kaden snapped, everyone's demeanor changing slightly at the command.
“You can’t hide it.” Xander barked back. “As soon as either of you get close to Emris or anyone in his court, they will know.”
“We are not going to hide it,” she said hesitantly, her eyes glancing at Kaden. “We are just going to keep them finding out as long as possible.”
Irritation ate at her skin and she knew it wasn’t from her but her mate next to her. She placed a hand on his arm and took in a deep breath to soothe her own thoughts.
“What is our plan?” Finnley asked, his arm draped around Raine.
“I’m sure word has gotten to Emris of the attack in Bromel, the question is whether we were reported as Valkyrie or not,” Kaden answered, his voice full of annoyance.
