“Pretending.” His toes slid closer to hers as his entrancing blue gaze held her captive. “Come on, Al. Whatdoya say we take this thing for a spin and see where it goes?”

She wanted to. For years, Alex had secretly wished for this moment to come. Now that it was here, she couldn’t help but wonder?—

“What if we crash and burn?”

“Then at least we’ll know we tried, and we won’t live the rest of our lives wondering ‘what if’.”

“What ifs do suck,” Alex nodded, the muttered comment meant more for herself than him.

Colt’s deep chuckle rumbled through the space between them. “Hell yeah, they do.”

Her heart skipped and her breaths stuttered as she whispered a soft, “Okay.”

“Okay?” His dark brows shot up. “As in you want to?—”

“See where this thing goes?” She covered the back of his hand with hers and leaned into his touch. “What the hell?” Alex shrugged. “I mean, really, what do we have to lose? It’s not like you and I were that close to begin with.”

As expected, Colt let out a boisterous laugh. “See?” He rested his forehead against hers. “That’s what I love about you. I can never predict what you’ll do or say.”

She pulled back so she could see his eyes. “Is that all you love?”

“I also love touching you.”

“Yeah? Why don’t you prove it.”

He brought a hand to her lower back and pulled her body flush with his.

Alex grinned. “Is that all you’ve got?”

She cried out when her feet unexpectedly left the floor.

“Colt!” She wrapped her arms around his neck as he scooped her into his arms. “What are you?—”

“If you have to ask, I’m definitely doing it wrong.”

Her laughter echoed as he carried her away from the door.

“Bedroom?” Colt growled.

She loved how his voice got all grumbly and rough when he was turned on. Alex pointed toward the narrow hallway a few feet away.

Within minutes, their clothes were off, and he was lowering her onto the bed. Colt’s lips found hers as his hands began to wander.

His touch was magical and safe. When she was with him like this, Alex felt more at peace than ever before.

He used his hands to create the kind of erotic bliss she’d only dreamed of. An aching desire and a savage hunger for more.

Alex brought her hand to his steely cock, fisting her fingers around the long, thick shaft. Together they worked each other into a heightened frenzy until she feared she’d die from the pleasure alone.

Colt rolled them over, not stopping until his body was on top of hers. She let her legs fall open. He settled himself between her thighs.

Reaching down, he aligned his blunt tip to her slick entrance. Alex’s breath hitched from the contact, her swollen flesh sensitive to even the slightest touch.

“Look at me, Alexandria.”

She lifted her gaze to his. He pushed his hips forward. He didn’t stop until he was fully seated inside. And it was in that moment when she realized Colt wasn’t just some guy she wanted to date.

He’s the man I love.
