On rubbery legs, she crossed to him, already forgetting her headache.

“Turn around.”

She did as he bade, leaning back into him as he burrowed skilled fingers in her mussed hair and massaged various pressure points. Her long, low moan triggered his deep chuckle.

“I’m next!” Katie declared.

Her inner green-eyed lunatic grabbed the wheel and almost drove her off the friendship road. Never before had she experienced anything of its like, but in that moment, she wanted to do physical harm.

“Whoa!” Katie held up a hand. “Down, killer. I didn’t mean anything by it. I’ll take another aspirin instead.”

“No, sorry. I…” Nadia stepped away from Luc’s ministrations and gestured for Katie to take her place. “You go. I need coffee anyway.”

Luc sidestepped, sporting a distinctly uncomfortable expression. “Apologies, I have a prior engagement. But I wanted to drop by supplies for our feline friend.” He brushed a hand along Nadia’s spine. “There are pastries for you and Katie, if you wish to partake.”

And before they could think to thank him, he was gone.

“Holy shitballs, girl!” Eyes wide, Katie fanned herself. “He’s so much hotter in person.”

“He really is. And God, does he smell great. Like apple pie straight from the oven,” Nadia said with a girly sigh. “The richest, loaded with cinnamon and streusel topping.”

Katie frowned. “Really? You get pie? Hm. My favorite blueberry muffins came to mind.”

“Weird.”

“He’s so into you, by the way.”

The confidence in her tone brought Nadia’s head up from pastry exploration. “You think so?”

Gah! Why was she so desperate over him?

“Did you see the way he avoided touching me, but went straight to caressing you? There is a guy with boundaries. He’s not going to put himself in an awkward situation or cheat.”

Warmth spread through her chest, and suddenly, her day filled with pure sunshine.

“I really like him,” Nadia confessed. “More than anyone I’ve ever met, and probably more than I should after such a short acquaintance.”

“He can’t keep his eyes off you, Tart.” After delivering a quick hug from behind, Katie snatched the cheese danish from her hand. “I’m jealous as hell. If I ever find a guy who looks at me like Luc does you, I’m chaining him to my bed.”

Nadia laughed, picked up a cherry danish, and tapped it against Katie’s. “Here's to men who are hot, thoughtful, and know their way around a woman's wish list.”

She’d just taken a sip of her coffee when Katie asked, “So what’s your plan to get him in the sack? What can I do to help? And are you opposed to a threesome?”

Nadia choked.

With a bawdy laugh, Katie tossed the dish towel at her.

“Have you ever participated in a threesome?” she asked curiously as she mopped up her chin.

“No. But for a guy like your Luc, I might consider it.”

A silent minute ticked by as they both considered how perfect he seemed.

Katie paused before her next bite. “Wait. Have you?”

“Don’t act so shocked, Minger. I’m not a virgin, for fuck’s sake.”

“You have!” Katie’s milk-chocolate-colored eyes flared wide.
