“I don’t know why the hell you’re laughing,” he mutters. “You look just as stupid as I do.”

I walk stiffly and awkwardly down the hall while Ev does the same right behind me. When we step into the main room, everyone turns to laugh at us. They all look like they were born with a surfboard in their hands. My humiliation is complete when I spot Sitka in the corner, looking sexy as hell in a black wetsuit that fits her like a glove and a big smile on her face. Unlike Ev and me, everyone else still has their hoods down, and if my desire to keep looking at her in that wetsuit wasn’t so strong, I’d be marching my ass back to bed.

Yuri disappears out the French doors with several of the others, and when they return a few minutes later, they’ve brought surfboards. We step out to meet them, and the blast of cool air has me seriously doubting my ability to do this. I can’t imagine stepping into that frigid water, and I wish I’d ignored Misha’sgo commandocomment and worn a sweatsuit under this thing.

“Oh, yay,” Ev says, eyeing the closest board like it’s only a matter of time before he dies on it.

“Relax,” Misha says, smacking him on the back. “We won’t let you two die.”

Ev looks over at him. “You sure you get a say in this? I’m pretty sure if the Pacific wants to kill me, it’s going to.”

Yuri smiles back at us. “I mean, we’ll try not to let you die. How about that?”

“Oh, well as long as you try,” Ev says, his sarcasm ringing out loud and clear. When he notices we’re not all down here, he asks, “How come Yulia gets to sit this out?”

“My sister hates to surf,” Aleks says. “She’s sleeping in with Talia and Max.”

“I have a feeling I’m also going to hate to surf,” Ev tries, but the others just laugh and shake their heads.

“No way,” Misha says. “Yulia at least tried it first. You can’t hate something you’ve never tried.”

“I’m pretty sure I can,” Ev mutters.

Aleks hands me one of the boards while Tyoma does the same for Ev. We share a look before following everyone as they start to make their way down the trail to the beach. Sitka carries her board, looking so effortlessly sexy while she does it and falls into step beside me. The sun hasn’t fully risen, and gloomy is the best way to describe the sky, but there’s enough light for me to easily see her, and when she looks up at me, I drink in the sight of her for as long as I can.

When we pass the bluff, and I see the exact spot I had her naked and pressed up against while I ate her perfect pussy, I can’t resist meeting her eyes and giving her a wink. She grins and looks away before anyone can notice.

Keeping my eyes on the very angry looking ocean, I whisper, “You look fucking sexy as hell in that wetsuit, besyonok.”

“So do you,” she says, making me laugh.

“I look like a lot of things right now,” I say, “and I’m pretty sure sexy isn’t one of them.”

“You’re very wrong about that,” she quickly says before dropping her board when everyone else does.

I do the same, because mimicking the other people who actually know what the hell they’re doing is the only way out of this mess.

“What the hell is this?” Ev asks when Kostya tosses us each a block of something.

“Wax,” he says. “Rub it on your board. It’ll help make it sticky so you don’t slip off.”

Ev laughs. “Bold of you to assume I’ll be able to get on this thing at all.”

“Like this,” Sitka says, showing Ev and I how to do it.

We copy her crisscross pattern, nothing but the faint scratching sound of all of us waxing our boards at the same time, and with the waves crashing and the sun lightening up the sky, I can almost convince myself this is peaceful, beautiful even.

“I’m hurrying! God, Dima, hang on!”

I look over my shoulder at the sound of Allie’s voice. She’s running down the hill after a pissed-off looking Dima. They drop their boards down next to ours, waxing theirs in less than half the time it took me.

“What took you so long?” Sitka asks.

Dima jerks his head in Allie's direction. “Someone insisted on a second cup of coffee and then got her damn zipper stuck.”

While he looks down to run a hand over his board, checking to make sure it’s how he wants it, Allie grins over at Sitka and gives her a wink.

“Wait, you got coffee?” Ev asks.
