“This reminds me of my wife.”

I don’t have a clue what that means, so I disregard it and Raven opens the gate for us.

“Three members ahead. Two O’Clock.” Bones says and Carter is quick.

‘Pop. Pop. Pop.’

Like a bloody game of dominos all three men fall to the ground as Heather glances at me.

“That’s hot, right?”

I shake my head at her. I’ll do just about anything for this woman, but telling her my brother is hot?Hard pass, Tesoro.

“There’s more at the back. Unknown number, but a lot.”

That’s helpful. A lot? Is that ten? Or a hundred?

All of us have our firearms out and ready. Carter will take the lead, but we don’t know what we are walking into, so it’s better to be extra cautious.

“Stay back, Tesoro.”

Her glare is quick, and I give her one right back.

“Do as you’re fucking told. Or I swear to God, you’ll be in the car waiting for us.”

“I’d like to see you try.” She huffs as she continues trying to edge herself in front of Carter.

I grab her long ponytail and wrap it around my fist, yanking until her back hits my chest.

“There’s a time to be a defiant brat, Tesoro. This is not the time. Understood?”

”Yes.”

“Good girl.”

I release her, and I know she’s pissed, but I don’t care. I’d rather her be angry with me and alive than the alternative.

When we make it to the back, it’s instant chaos. Bullets fly through the air. Killian pushes Heather to the ground and lays on top of her. There are closer to a hundred men than ten.

Bones and Carter fire at all of the men shooting at us. If the guy Bones had on the inside is out here he won’t survive.

One of the men falls to the ground and aims his gun in the air wildly and fires again, seconds before his death. Kage grabs his stomach and falls to the ground with a pained grunt.

“Reaper, get Kage out of here. Call Dr. Knight. She’s here and on standby. Text updates.”

We move forward, making our way to the other side of the building and find it vacant.

“Is your guy still alive?” I ask Bones and with a nod, he confirms he is.

We already know whoever this guy is has left the back door unlocked so we can slip in without being noticed. My brother has a silencer on his weapon but the funny thing about silencers or suppressors is they aren’t completely silent. They reduce sound but don’t eliminate it completely but it’s better than loud bangs.

Carter opens the door and quickly steps through. There’s a man making a drink dressed only in yellow boxers, and he immediately startles dropping the glass, and Carter shoots him in the forehead. He slumps to the floor with a thud. Blood immediately seeps from his skull, and one by one we step over his body.

Bones chuckles and speaks low.

“Could you miss once? You’re making the rest of us look bad.”

I’ve seen Carter miss his target three times in our entire lives. The first time was when we were five. He got a toy bow as his first gift after he got out of the hospital. It shot Nerf darts instead of arrows. He spent hours outside, shooting at the most random objects. Even then, he had near perfect aim. It has only gotten better with age.
