I leave out that the only time we can count on her behaving is when she’s got a dick inside her.

“Probably why she fits in with the wives so well.”

He hands me the envelope.

“This is not negotiable. You’re family and we take care of each other.”

I pocket the envelope and give my thanks to Bones while Heather says her fourth goodbye to everyone, and we walk her out to the waiting car. We are staying at Raven and Bianca’s guest house until we find something more permanent, which will hopefully be soon.

As we get into the limo, Heather lets out a long yawn.

“I’m so tired. I can’t wait to fall asleep.

Carter sits on one side of her, amusement dancing in his eyes, and I take a seat beside her while Knox is across from us.

“Do you think you can sleep with my cock driving in and out of your pussy? If you can then sweet dreams, because that’s definitely what I plan on doing.”

Knox chuckles softly as he shakes his head.

“Tesoro, you have a long night ahead of you.”

She glances at both of my brothers before looking at me.

“Do I still have a safe word, or does that end with marriage?”

I pull her into my arms and hold her close to my chest, my heart physically hurting. Of course, she thinks marriage might change things between us.

“You will always have a safe word. That will never change. There will never come a time when you aren’t safe with us.”

She relaxes in my arms and sighs softly.

“Okay. I just wanted to make sure. I don’t mind if you fuck me while I sleep. It sounds kind of hot. I had wondered about the safe word because marriage kind of assumes blanket consent.”

The car moves toward the house, but Knox gets up anyway and kneels in front of her.

“Tesoro, look at me.”

When she does, he takes her hands in his as he stares at her, his gaze full of love for her while he tries to explain how it’s actually going to work.

“Tesoro, we want you to feel safe. Always. Nothing will change between us. If you use your safe word, we will stop. Immediately. Please forget everything those assholes told you about marriage. It was all fucking lies.”

Exhaling a long breath, she nods, as if she’s finally understanding.

“You’re right. Thank you for reassuring me. It’s difficult to forget the programming.”

I’m elated that she gets that’s what happened to her. Knowing that it was brainwashing is the first step of many for her. And if she needs to be reminded a hundred times, that’s fine. We won’t tire of making her feel safe.

Chapter Sixty-Six

THE HEATHEN

The second we walk in, all three of them charge for me like a pack of hungry animals.

“Would you wait? I need twenty minutes.”

Killian arches his brow, while running his thumb across my cheek.

“Are you going to sleep?”
