Ryder growled, “Yeah, but an organization like that always has more heads if you cut one off, so we’ll just make sure we keep going after them.”
“Thanks. You guys have been wonderful to me and I really appreciate it.”
It was Nolan’s turn to hug their brother. “You’re safe now. Trust me, I know. I’ve been here, and these bears are like a fortress in and of themselves.”
“Even I trust them,” Race said, winking at Con.
Connal just rolled his eyes. “You’d better. It’s really hard if you don’t trust your mate.”
That actually made Milo laugh, his expression lightening up quite a bit, and he didn’t look quite so worried and down. “Well good. I appreciate you guys giving me a place to stay for a while till I get back on my feet.”
Race wanted to argue, but he didn’t. Now wasn’t the time, but Milo wasn’t going to be leaving at all. This was their home now, and they were going to use it as a base for all of the good things they could do for the Shifter community, for all of the omegas they could save.
These biker bears, they were one hell of a team, and Race wanted to be part of that more than he wanted anything else on earth.
Well except for Connal. And maybe his bowl of soup.
Chapter
Fourteen
The hot tub felt like heaven.
If heaven was hot and bubbly and he got to watch his toes float to the surface of the water.
Which Connal kind of thought was heaven, especially since there was a berry smoothie and a chilled bowl of smoked salmon sitting on the little table on the deck next to the hot tub. And he had Race cuddled up right next to him, bobbing gently along with him.
This was the life.
They had gotten most of the bears that they had rescued from the awful flophouse in the middle of nowhere set up with rescue organizations all over the country. The bunny was somewhere starting over, and the rats were off and running to get away from anyone who might be looking for them. They could go home. That was where they’d been sent but if they couldn’t they now had a place to get back on their feet.
Milo… Milo was having trouble shifting even though he was off the drugs now, but that was something Con thought maybe War could deal with. Race had a lot of guilt there, just like he’d had over Nolan, but Con was convincing him to let it go, he thought.
And if he wasn’t letting it go, well, Connal was distracting him.
“Mmm.” Race made a contented noise and then reached over the side of the hot tub to grab a piece of smoked salmon. “This is even better than what you promised me, Bear.”
“Is it?” He nipped the second half of the piece of salmon out of Race’s fingers when it was offered to him.
“Because it’s real not just hypothetical, and it’s you and me alone in the mountains in Montana. Far away from our brothers.”
He chuckled at that because it was true. While he loved all their brothers, his two and Race’s two, they were a lot. That was a lot of bears in one place, and they got on each other’s nerves sometimes. Especially when they were trying to make sure that he and Race couldn’t have sex just by showing up all the time.
That was an act, of course, which inspired Connal to do the same thing to Rye at least. War, he didn’t think was having sex with Milo yet. That was going to take some time and effort on War’s part. They were totally mates, but Milo was sunk deep into his non-shiftiness. He wasn’t ready to admit he wanted War’s giant and muscular bod.
Connal wrinkled his nose. This was not the time to be thinking of his brother’s bod. He needed to think of Race’s body, which was leaner and smaller and fit perfectly tucked up against his side under his arm. Why wasn’t he kissing Race right now?
“Because I’m feeding you salmon.” Race winked. “No fishy kisses.”
“How about berry kisses?” Con grabbed the smoothie and took a long slurp before swallowing it down. Then he grabbed Race and pressed their mouths together, taking a nice, long, deep kiss.
“Mmmhmm.” Race turned to climb onto his lap, wrapping both arms around his neck. When they broke for air, Race gave a breathless little laugh. “Berry kisses are the best.”
“Oh we have lots of other kisses to try. Don’t slot your favorite in yet.”
“I’m actually keeping an open mind.” Race started rubbing against him because his cock had risen hard and hot during the kissing session. Con was kind of grateful they weren’t human because at this point being in the hot tub as long as they had, their blood pressure would have tanked and he wouldn’t be able to get it up.
And he really didn’t need to be thinking about that either. Nope. He needed to be thinking about perfectly hard dicks sliding into perfectly wet holes and being incredibly pleasurable.
