“I don’t know. But why in the gods’ names would you want to do it yourself?”

If my face got any redder, I figured my head would explode. “Because I’m not comfortable letting any of the males here touch me like that. Or touching them like that.”

Masu’s eyes slid over to Bokkan. “Really? None of them appeals to you?”

I frowned at her. “I said I wasn’t comfortable because I don’t really know any of them. I like to know someone for longer than two or three days before I have sex with them.”

Masu shrugged again. “So, don’t fornicate. Or do humans not pleasure each other with their hands and mouths, too?”

Yep. What I feared would happen, happened. The dull pop in my ears was my head exploding due to too much blood rushing upward.

“Of course they do!” I rubbed my hands over my face. “Some humans will even have sex just to scratch an itch, but I’m not like that! I usually can’t get off if I don’t know the person well. I can’t relax enough. Okay?”

Shit. I was yelling.

I took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Masu. I didn’t mean to yell at you. I’m just frustrated.”

The imp patted my arm, and her demeanor seemed sympathetic, though it was difficult to tell with the red eyes and grey skin. “You’ll feel better if you let the master help you. I’ve heard he’s quite talented with his?—”

“Thanks, Masu. I’ll figure it out,” I interrupted, not wanting to hear what Bokkan’s talent was.

“I will let you know when I hear something from one of my friends,” she assured me.

I turned my back to her and the hulking daemon by the door, running my hands over my hair.

What in the hell was I going to do?

My body was rioting. My skin tingled and stung, as though someone was running an electrical current over me. My breastsfelt swollen and achy. I crossed my arms over them, and the pressure helped a little. A trickle of wetness dripped down the inside of my left thigh. I was ready to lock myself in the bathing room and make myself come a few times just to make all these sensations stop. Or at least weaken.

The bedchamber door shut, but I could still feel Bokkan’s presence in the room. I should have known he wasn’t going to leave me to handle things myself.

“Do you have another room I can use until I’m, um… better?” I asked him without turning around.

“I am going to be honest with you about something, and I would like you to try to remain calm.” His words were measured and steady, but his voice was gruff and deeper than usual.

I leaned my forehead against the cool stone of the hearth as I shivered at the sound. This was not good.

Then, I managed to focus on what he’d said rather than how he sounded. “I feel like I’m not going to like whatever you have to say.”

“Probably not, but please do not get upset. I am in control of myself and will remain so.”

“I believe you,” I answered.

“You awakened certain instincts in me the past few days. When you fought Venna, those instincts say you laid claim to me. That you won the right to touch me.”

Oh, my horny side loved the sound of that, but the rest of me wasn’t so quick to join in.

“What does that have to do with my current predicament?” I asked.

“Of all the males on this estate, I am the only one who will be concerned only with what you want. What you need. These instincts I speak of will make sure of that.”

There was a buzzing in my head, and an increasingly louder inner voice was demanding I let him prove it to me. That I throwthe seven-and-a-half-foot daemon on the bed and take him for a ride.

“What instincts?”

“They are tied to our traditions. When you accepted Venna’s challenge, it convinced the more primitive part of me that you wanted to bed me…” He paused, waiting for me to respond. When I didn’t, he continued, “That same part is eager to convince you that I can please you more than any other male you might want.”

“I don’t want any other male,” I stated without thinking.
