“I’ll start some coffee and let you get over your panic at seeing my Adonis-like naked body.”
He’s making coffee,naked?
But as I sit on the toilet, taking care of other business, I realize something. He doesn’t know that I don’t have a coffee maker. As if he’s reading my mind, Alex’s voice calls out from the kitchen.
“Savannah, where’s the coffee maker?”
I quickly flush and wash my hands before going out to join him.
“I don’t have one.”
“You don’t have one.”
“Nope.”
He stares at me, incredulous. “But you mainline coffee all day. Have you any tea, at least?”
I just shrug. “Nope. Don’t drink tea. Coffee is my vice, and it’s an expensive habit. I usually get some from the bodega down the street.” I frown slightly, and he catches it.
“What’s that look for?” he asks.
“Oh, nothing. I’m giving up my coffee habit so I can save that money for Molly’s adoption fees. I forgot to grab some instant coffee at the store, but I will next time.” I smile brightly at him. “It won’t be so bad. Short term pain, long term gain.”
Before I can register what’s happening, Alex has walked over and swooped me up in his arms and over his shoulder. I shriek, but he just swats my ass.
“If you’re going to make me start my day without any source of caffeine, you had better wake me up properly, woman.”
Well, if I must.
