“That was the longest twenty minutes of my life. You kept staring at me with those come-fuck-me-eyes and I honestly didn’t know if I could stop myself from giving Rick a front row show.”

Callie gasped but before she had a chance to respond, Jake had lifted her up, so that she could wrap her legs around his waist. As she pressed open-mouthed kisses all over his neck, where his muscles were taut with tension, Jake fumbled for his keys and without losing his grip on her, used one hand to open the door to let them in.

Once inside, Jake slammed the door shut with his foot and carried Callie to the couch then sat down with her on top of him. Their touches became frantic as they pulled off each others’ shirts, desperate to feel skin upon skin. Jake felt as if a whirlwind was whipping through him as they kissed.

All day had been a test in trying to behave like a gentleman and not take her in public. She tempted him like nothing, and no one ever had before. If Jake was being honest with himself, he didn’t know if he could ever have enough of Callie. When she climbed off his lap, and started opening the fly of his jeans, his emotions intensified even more than he thought possible. This beautiful, smart woman had made her way into his heart so completely. When she licked her lips as she feasted her eyes on his fully erect cock, Jake thought he might lose control right then and there.

Callie took her time with Jake’s cock in her mouth, teasing him to the brink of insanity. Her tongue swirled around his tip as her hands cupped and gently squeezed his balls. As she sucked him deeply into the wet heat of her mouth, Jake could have sworn he saw stars. He started counting backwards from one hundred to try and maintain control over himself but failed the instant she gently scraped her teeth along the base of his cock. He needed to be inside of her, now. He pulled Callie up into his arms, and straight down onto his cock.

They let out simultaneous moans of ecstasy as their bodies joined together. She was so wet, he slid into her easily; the feel of her heat surrounded his cock, pulling him in deeper. The harder he thrust, the tighter her channel felt as his cock swelled even larger in anticipation of release. Jake could tell by the sounds Callie was making that she was close to her own orgasm, and he reached down between them to press his fingers to the magically sensitive spot he knew would send her careening over the edge. As the pressure on her clit intensified, tremors began to ripple throughout her body until finally Callie threw her head back and screamed Jake’s name, with his groan of surrender following soon after.

It was only after both of their heart rates had come back down to a normal range, that Jake realized he had, for the first time in his life, forgotten to use a condom. As he pulled out of Callie, aware of the stickiness of his release on her thighs, he could tell she realized that fact at the same time. They stared at each other nervously. The worried expression on Callie’s face tugged at every protective instinct in Jake’s heart. He tried to infuse his voice with comforting reassurance. “Callie, I am so sorry. I got so wrapped up in you I forgot to, well, wrap up. I promise you I’m clean, and I have honestly never done that before.”

Callie smiled quickly, but her voice had a hint of nerves that he yearned to erase. “It’s okay. I was so turned on, I forgot as well. I’m also clean, and on birth control. I have to say I wondered why this time felt so incredibly different.”

“Incredible is one way to describe it. Earth shattering and life changing is another.” He couldn’t keep the rough arousal out of his voice.

Jake kissed Callie softly before quickly going to the bathroom to get a warm cloth for her. As he tossed the cloth into his laundry hamper, he realized they needed to talk. Making love without protection brought their relationship to a new level. But were they on the same page? He knew he needed to find out. And this conversation required clothes.

Jake passed Callie his t-shirt. He tried to quell the arousal he felt seeing her in his clothes, arousal that only grew when she put on her lacy panties. His shirt covered her down to mid-thigh, but he knew what lay beneath. Intimately.

He pulled on a pair of grey sweatpants that hung low on his hips, noticing the flare of heat in Callie’s eyes as they followed the happy trail of hair that bisected the sexy V of muscle he knew was on display in these pants. What was it about women and guys in sweatpants? Forget oysters and chocolate, sweatpants were the true aphrodisiac. We really need to leave the bedroomhe thought, then took her hand, and led her down the hallway to the kitchen.

Once there, Jake turned on the kettle and coffee pot then leaned against the counter and pulled Callie back into the circle of his embrace. With a serious expression on his face, his hands began to stroke up and down her back in a rhythmic motion.

“Callie, what just happened makes this conversation even more important to me. I meant it when I said I have never had sex without protection. And the fact that I lost control and forgot with you, says something about how strongly you affect me. I want you Gorgeous, all the time. More than I’ve ever wanted anyone before.” Jake blushed and ran a hand through his hair before continuing, “this is kind of embarrassing, and honestly I feel like I’m back in high school, but I have to know if you feel the same way. I want us to be together. I want you to be with me and only me. I want you to meet my family as my girlfriend. And I think I’m falling -”

Callie didn’t even let him finish his sentence before pulling him down into a kiss that conveyed without words exactly how she felt.

“Of course I want the same thing. I can’t stop thinking about you and wishing I was with you every moment. I’d love to meet your family.” She dropped her head to his chest. “But when you meet my family, well, let’s just say I hope they won’t change your opinion of me.”

Jake gently framed her face with his hands and forced her to look up into his eyes, which he was certain were filled with the depths of his emotion.

“Nothing could change my opinion of you. You’re beautiful, driven, smart, and sexy as hell. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman, and I thank the universe every day that the idiot you were going to meet chose my bar for your first date. He brought you back to me.”

Callie’s eyes shone with tears as the loving commitment in Jake’s words hung between them.

He continued, “I want us to spend Thanksgiving together. My mom does a big dinner for the family, and I know they would love to have you there. Then you can introduce me to your family, and I will prove to you that nothing could change how I feel. Not them, or their crazy ideas about how you should live your life.”

Speechless from the romantic intensity of the conversation, all she could do was nod. Jake gathered her in his arms and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, finally feeling a piece of his heart that he hadn’t even realized was missing, slide into place.

Chapter 13

The next night after Jake went to work at The Lucky Strike, Callie texted Reagan. She desperately needed her best friend to be a voice of reason and help her figure out the myriad of emotions that were swirling inside her heart.

Callie: SOS. I need you and a bottle of wine at my house, I’m freaking out!

Reagan: On my way girlfriend.

A short while later they were settled on the floor in front of Callie’s gas fireplace with a bottle of Pinot Grigio open and poured. Reagan was petting Fred, who purred contentedly in her lap, while Callie fretted about Jake’s plan for them to meet each others’ parents.

“How can I ask him to go to my father’s party? I just know that my mother will do nothing but make snide judgments and criticisms. He’ll be miserable the whole time and never want to see me again,” Callie moaned into her glass of wine.

Rolling her eyes, Reagan shook her head in disagreement.

“Cal, if he is as crazy about you as I think he is, meeting your parents won’t make him run away. If anything, he’ll be even more amazed by what an incredible person you turned out to be despite having horrific parents.”

“You make it sound like I was abused. You know I wasn’t, my parents just…” Callie’s voice trailed off as she tried to put words to her feelings about her empty childhood.
