Amused even further, I hid a smirk at Marnie’s tone. Clearly, Winona had kept her up to date on what was happening. Eve spluttered, turning red as she realised people were watching, highly entertained.
“About time a slut got called on her actions,” a well-known entertainment lawyer said.
Eve flushed.
“Yes, can you imagine husbands’ mistresses being allowed in here? Peace would be impossible,” her friend remarked.
“Thank Christ this club is so exclusive. This bitch can send a message to any other hoe-bags thinking they’re on our level,” a businessman’s wife stated.
“She may have caused a divorce, but that doesn’t change the fact she’s low class and a cunt,” another woman declared, her eyes on Eve. Hate radiated from her, and I recognised her, as her scandal had overtaken mine. Her husband had been caught red-handed with twins.
Eve tried standing tall, but the hateful comments were tearing her down. And then Winona appeared like an avenging angel and stared at Eve.
“I hear there’s a problem,” she stated.
“Your receptionist is rude, ignorant, and unprofessional,” Eve snarled, channelling her hate and anger at the slurs at Marnie.
“She is?” Winona turned to Marnie and held her gaze. “What did you say?”
“I informed her that giving Oliver Kensington blow jobs doesn’t give her the right to membership. And then, word for word, ‘I hope she chokes on a bag of dicks, and one of them is her father’s, you syphilitic whore’.”
Winona’s eyes opened wide, and she stared at Marnie. “How wonderful to see you inherited your mother’s potty mouth.”
“Great, isn’t it?” Marnie replied.
“Was there a problem with Marnie’s statement? She pretty much spoke the truth,” Winona drawled, staring at Eve. “We only accept certain classes of women here, and the unpaid hooker class isn’t one. Leave.”
Eve turned redder and hissed. “You’ll regret this.”
“Not today, I won’t. Once more, leave without another word before I have security detain you and then I’ll press charges,” Winona threatened.
Eve spun, and I moved forward. She saw me, and her gaze narrowed. I steeled myself. Eve was furious, and I was now in her direct crosshairs.
“Alicia!” she shrieked. “You total bitch. Every time something happens, you’re always present. God, you’re a spiteful, jealous, washed-up wife who—”
“Who is a member of this exclusive club!” I grinned. That would grate on Eve, my having a membership while she didn’t. Eve was all about status.
Eve made a wordless noise of anger. “This club is for businesspeople. That’s not you! You’re nothing but a used-up ex-housewife.”
“Who happens to have forty-nine million in the bank thanks to Oliver. That divorce was a blessing! But the settlement Oliver paid had to hurt, Eve. I wanted two million, my personal assets, and my freedom. How does it feel to know Oliver fucking about cost him an extra forty-seven million?”
“Oliver’s worth ten times that!” Eve hissed.
I smiled coldly. “Not for much longer, Eve. I’ve only just begun my revenge.” With that threat, I walked away.
Inside, I was shaking like a leaf, but outwardly I was composed and cool. Winona nodded approval.
“You’re a goddess, don’t ever forget,” she murmured as I passed and then beckoned security forward.
Oliver
My door burst open, and Eve raced in. She was red-faced and had clearly been crying. I didn’t have the time to deal with theatrics right now, but her words stopped my reaction.
“That bitch of your ex-wife threatened me!” Eve cried and threw herself into my lap. I barely held a sigh in as Eve wrapped her arms around my neck and began sobbing. Taking a few moments to ensure I didn’t snap, I wanted a blow job later. I rubbed Eve’s back in a parody of comfort.
“Alicia? What did she do?” I murmured.
“I went to join the Ivory Lounge, you know, because it’s where the top businesswomen meet. The receptionist there was awful.” Eve wailed.
