Always yes.

“Then marry me,” I sass. “I don’t know what you could possibly be—” Micah slams into me, ridding my next teasing words to come from my mouth.

Again, we both know what he’s waiting for and I’m just prolonging it because it’s fun.

He has to know I love him.

I think.

“I’m not marrying a woman who still hasn’t told me those three words I need to hear to confirm we’re legit.”

My brows furrow because I didn’t think it wasthatdeep.

However, now that he says it—Laura.

His past with her and what she did. How he’s been stuck at a possible standstill because I haven’t given him what he needs to substantiate what we are.

However, in my defense, I’m not Laura. I haven’t left him. And I never plan on it.

Cupping his face within my palms, I drag him out from between my shoulder and neck and press a soft kiss to his lips.

“How could you not know?” I mutter against his mouth. “I’m nother.”

“I know,” he says with a small sigh. “I know you’re not.”

“You’re doubting us?”

“No,” he carps out a little tersely. “Absolutely not.”

“Then why are you waiting to ask me? You said a year. It’s been eighteen months.”

“Because I know you’ve been waiting for Heath’s approval. And I know how important that was to you.” He rocks his hips slower, making me desperate for him to fuck me harder. “I love you even more for considering my kid.”

“I love Heath.”

“I know you do.”

“I didn’t want him to feel like I was replacing?—”

“He knows. He’s a smart kid. Weren’t you his teacher?”

Rolling my eyes, I lightly smack his bicep and pout. “I needed the words.”

“I understand.”

“But I didn’t know it was driving youthatinsane.”

“It’s not.”

My brows furrow. “Okay, Mr. Let’s-Play-Games…you’re just trying to win.”

“I am.”

“See, I was ready to tell you?—”

“Then tell me.”

I scowl. “You’re a pain in the ass.”
