He lifted to stand, then pulled me up.

“Chief, this is nice. You did all this for me?” I held on to her waist as I led her further onto the beach where the picnic was set up. I was out of touch with this side of things when dealing with dating but wanting to cater to Lourdè came easy to me. She deserved all this and more, and I was determined to give her everything and then some.

“Of course, I’m glad you like it. Here, let me help you down. You and this dress are still causing problems.” She chuckled while I undid her sandals before escorting her onto the oversized blanket.

Once she was down, I removed my shoes, following suit. I then lit candles to enhance the ambiance.

“And candles, I know this ain’t the club, but this whole scene might have me sucking your dick right now.” I choked on air at her words.

“Lou, this is light shit, and hell no. Those types of privileges are for club play only. I ain’t no fool. I damn near hate sharing your skill sets with freaky ass bystanders who are strangers. I for fuck sure ain’t making another muthafucka privy to shit when it comes to you sexually in public.” She chuckled but I was serious.

“Why not, Chief? Are you afraid another man might want to test them out?”

“If they want to pass their test and live to see tomorrow, they’ll find something safe to do like not playing with me. Listen, Lou, so we’re clear, you open with that nigga, not me. Won’t another man ever have what’s mine.”

I caught her smirk as if she knew what I was thinking about. Yeah, of course I was assuming all this. Her cheeky grin could mean anything.

“Ooh that sounds like you want me forever.”

“Queen Lou, I swear I keep telling you, we’re officially on the status of infinity. I’m just trying to get all other parties involved to see shit my way.” I said that while pouring her wine and holding her gaze with mine. I knew I said this at the beginning of us, but ain’t shit changed for me, only grew. She needed to know how I was coming.

Always and forever is the only thing happening for us.

She didn’t speak as she went for a piece of cheese from the charcuterie board laid out with other mix of cheeses, meats, and fruits. But her face said it all with raised brows as she chewed her cheese. My baby was on the same type of time as me.

I passed her the glass then moved her hair back as I leaned in to kiss the spot right below her ear so I could whisper, “I love you the most, forever, Lou. Should we seal our fate as one?”

I was now back upright and filling my wine glass.

She perked up, lifting her glass with me doing the same.

“Yes! Here’s to you saving the queen.”

I laughed as she clinked her glass with mine.

“To saving my queen.”

We both took a drink.

“Okay, you never told me your music taste and I am curious. Who is your go-to?” I asked as I pulled out my phone.

“I don’t know if you’ll know them by name since you listen to stuff from eighteen-hundreds and all before words became a thing.”

I laughed hard.

“Baby, I do listen to music with words. For example, I listen to a cat that started out as a battle rapper named Krist for my hip-hop needs and Orlane for my R&B vibes.”

“Okay, a nice balance. I’m not familiar with Krist, but I can vibe to Orlane.”

“Orlane and who else? You ignored my question, Lou.”

She gasped as she put her hand on her chest. “Only the best new up and coming artist, Siren. She does something to a song that makes love feel like a fairytale every time she sings about it.”

“Is that the kind of love you want?” My voice came out rougher as I watched her bob her head like she could truly hear a song playing right now.
