“Hell yeah, because I’ma make her mine in due time.”

“Hey,Tunk. I didn’t think you would be in today.” Naja beamed as I walked into the office. I wasn’t supposed to be here. My ass should’ve still been at home still laid between Lourdè’s voluptuous thighs.

Stop thinking about the shit you can’t have right now.

“Yeah, I figure I would get a head start on the hiring process. We need to hire four bodyguards and three security guards.”

”Ooh true. I went ahead and put out an online ad, plus I told a few of the guys if they know of some potential people to send them in.”

I nodded at Naja’s words as I headed back to Boss’s office so I could work on the schedule. He covered a lot, and now I had to shift things around to make sure we could cover everything.

“I appreciate that. If you need me, I’ll be in the office working on the schedule. I have to move some guys around.”

“Oh yeah, don’t forget with moving guys around you’ll still need a couple of them this weekend for the Miss/Mrs. Crescent Falls pageant at The Metropolitan. Boss scheduled himself working it himself since Oakley Charles is a judge. He was the only bodyguard while the others were simply security.” I didn’t verbally acknowledge Naja’s words as I finally made it to the office, but mentally I was preparing to cover the shift myself since I was now available. I had moved all other trained bodyguards to cover Boss’s other scheduled shifts.

Halfway through my day the sound of my phone buzzing had me taking my eyes off the computer screen where I was listing a hiring ad.

Lando: Family game night. Take a break from whatever you sneak away and do on the weekends and come spend time with these kids, fool.

I smirked as I replied. He stayed trying to figure out my life. I was sure my visits to Seventh Heaven would decrease now that I’d decided to explore things with only Lourdè.

How you become boyfriend number two?

I had no idea, but it was a temporary title.

Me: I’ll be there tonight.

“Q, it’s almost time, hurry up!” I called out to Quincey who was in the kitchen getting his bowl of popcorn while we waited for the official announcement that would change our lives forever. Of course, Quincey had an inside source who let him know it was going down tonight.

While he was excited for this, it was bittersweet for me. I knew this meant the spotlight would officially be on us if Quincey made it on the ballot to take the seat.

No, Josie, scratch that. Quincey’s campaign run is the start of it all.

I wasn’t ready for any of it, but like a good supportive wife, I knew I had to be.

“Ooh, did I miss it?” he asked as soon as he placed the popcorn bowl in my lap.

“No, it’s just starting.” On cue, the opening credits for the news began to play before cutting to the news anchors, one male and one female, the classic dynamic.

“Breaking news, we’ve just got word that Senator Tim Rogers is resigning. It was just a few months ago when we reportedthat Rogers was in quite the scandal involving accusations of corruption, bribery, and trafficking.”

“This isn’t looking too good for him, Anja. A resignation is a clear indication that a conviction is soon to come. And you can’t breeze over that trafficking accusation. It not only includes drugs but I hear women might be on the list as well.”

“Now, Cain, we can’t just spew out supposed information.”

“No, you’re right…allegedly, of course.”

That had me cracking up as Quincey and I watched the news with our popcorn and wine as if this was some real juicy shit.

I guess for Quincey it was though. He hadn’t gotten the final word on if they would do a special election yet or if they would just appoint someone.

And quite frankly I wasn’t sure what we…he was hoping for.

“With the resignation now in motion, that means the need to fill the seat. I’m sure we’re looking at a special election.”
