Then I stalked through the crowd, who were giving me a wide berth, and when I made it back to Creedence, Clip lifted his chin and stepped to the side.

I gathered her in my arms and pressed a kiss on her temple, “Let’s go, Star Shine.”

Creedence

Since I worked for the hospital, they got me back fast.

Thankfully, nothing was broken, just a bad sprain.

I looked at Alexander and asked, “How does your hand not hurt when you do this?”

The doctor who was wrapping my wrist looked at Alexander and paled.

So, he just got his first look at my man.

I snickered.

Alexander winked at me, “Years of practice, baby.”

Once my wrist was wrapped and I was told to take over-the-counter meds for the pain and to ice it at intervals, Alexander grabbed my discharge papers, then he took my other hand and helped me off the bed.

I saw my dad holding his head when we stepped out of the room.

I hope it hurts.

I tucked myself deeper into Alexander’s side and buried my face in his arm as he guided us through the emergency room and to the doors outside.

“Cree? Princess?” I heard my dad call out to our backs.

Mom said, “Give her time.”

He gave me time, seventeen hours to be exact, before he sat me down and listened to why I was dressed like that.

Then he got tears in his eyes as he apologized profusely.

They headed back home later that day, and I saw it, the way his shoulders tensed as Alexander walked by him without a word and came to me.

Then he pressed a kiss on my temple and asked, “You okay?”

I nodded.

Then I looked at Dad and said, “I love you. Even when you're being an irrational ass.”

He looked over his shoulder and winked, “Love you too, princess. In spades.”

Creedence

I was bent over the oven door, pulling dinner out when I heard a growl, “Stand up, or I’m going to put you in a position we haven’t tried before.”

I looked over my shoulder, then I grinned mischievously.

His eyes narrowed.
