The garden was thriving under their joint efforts, much like the easy camaraderie growing between them. They moved into the shade for a respite, fetching cool drinks from the well.

“I’m glad we decided to spend our Sunday afternoons together working on the garden,” she said.

“It’s something we both enjoy. It may be work, but it’s work we do together with smiles. What else can a man ask for?”

Brenda planted a kiss on his lips. “Kisses.”

He laughed. “I like your kisses...”

“You’d best not be liking any other girl’s kisses!” she said in mock anger.

“I wouldn’t dare. Only yours, Brenda.”
