Wren

Isigh with happiness as I bury my face in Ethan’s pillow and inhale deeply. The tour of their two bedroom apartment had taken all of five minutes before they lost interest and decided to try to make a snack out of whatever was still good in their fridge.

They had waved me on though, encouraging me to explore their rooms to my heart’s content. It’s interesting to kind of see what they were like before I knew them. Their personalities clearly shine through their interior decorating choices.

I already went through all of Teddy’s stuff, looking at vintage records and his patch collection. The decor was just what I would have expected from him. A little chaotic, but still tidy.

Ethan’s room…well, it might just be the most immaculate room I’ve ever seen. Not a single pillow out of place. Even the corner of the room, which has a desk withsixcomputer monitors, is neatly kept, every pen and sticky note in a neat row.

Smiling to myself, I breathe his pillow in again. Smells just like him.

Lime and bergamot…and…sex?

Not specifically on the pillow, but…it’s in the air. Sitting up rapidly, I sniff again. Yep. That’s exactly what it smelled like when he got his cum on me.

And it’s inhisroom.

Something inside me snaps, my omega taking over in a jealous rage.

Who thefuckwas he sleeping with?

The thought ofmyalpha being in the same position we were in just last week but with someone who isn’t me makes my fucking blood boil.

My vision tinges red as my mind races, imagining all the different scenarios. Did he fuck her on this very bed? This blanket?

He’sdead.

“Ethan!” My voice is shrill, and the muted sounds from the kitchen pause. When Ethan pops his head in the doorway, face infuriatingly confused, I launch his pillow straight at his face with a wretched scream.

“Wren!” He lifts his hands to stop me before I can throw another pillow. “What the fuck?”

But my chest is heaving, rage boiling inside me like I’ve never known. My alpha’s room smells like sex, and Iknowit’s not because of me.

Something in the back of my mind screams that I’m being illogical, but I tune it out.

“‘What the fuck’ iswhydoes it smell like damn sex in here?!” I grit out, resisting the urge to chuck the other pillow at him.

His face blanks. “What?”

“Sex.” I repeat, growling. I hop off the bed, walking up to him and poking a finger in his chest. “It smells likeyourcum. Who is she?”

His mouth gapes before he shakes his head. “Little Bird—”

“Don’t you ‘Little Bird’ me,” I snap, my anger burning in my throat. “Who is she?”

He sighs. “Wren, it’s not like that.”

Teddy’s face pops up behind him. “Ah, you’re talkin’ ‘bout Jill. We all see ‘er from time to time, really.”

I see red, baring my teeth as Ethan gives Teddy a “what the fuck” look. “Jill?”

Teddy’s expression immediately turns to one of regret. “Fuck. Bad joke, Dove! Bad joke! Get it,Jill?” He holds up his right hand, tracing the path of his thumb to his pointer finger. “See? J-i-l-l. Jill.”

My mouth gapes as I process the information. “Are you saying that…Jill is yourhand?”

The omega in my chest falters, reality seeping in. He…was by himself.

Teddy nods animatedly as Ethan pushes him back, shuts his bedroom door and locks it. He approaches me, my nostrils still flaring from my adrenaline spike.
