Why are you glaring at Skye?

He’s being too friendly with Raj.

Lol, they’re just friends. Raj is seriously into you, and there’s this human who Skye has a massive crush on.

I give Ayo a dubious look, but he nods enthusiastically. Hmm, I suppose that would change things. Raj has never been with another man, so there’s definitely no history between them that I needto worry about.

I decide I want confirmation from the eagle himself, so when we end up in what would originally have been the wood-panelled formal dining room, but is now a conference room, I sit next to Skye at the long Georgian table.

Ayo says you have a crush on a human?

Skye rolls his eyes after checking his phone, although there’s a slight smile playing on his lips.

Skye

It’s not a crush! That’s so childish. I just want to lick the man all over.

I snort, a puff of smoke escaping my nostrils. That does reassure me some, but I prompt him for more anyway.

What’s he like?

Where do I even start? He’s intelligent, brave, sexy…

Seems like quite the guy. Are you going to ask him out?

I want to, but Cal thinks it’s a terrible idea.

Why?

He doesn’t know about the supernatural world obvs, and Cal is worried about it ending badly because I can’t be fully honest.

That sucks.

Aye, but Idris (that’s his name btw) is close to figuring it out on his own. He’s a detective inspector with the human police, and he’s been investigating us.

That could be a problem…

It’s giving Ethan more grey hairs, that’s for sure. It would be a wee bit shit if Idris learnt about the supernatural world only to freak out, especially if he manages to gather evidence and shares it with other humans.

Is that likely?

Idk, but Ethan had me run surveillance on him a while back, and he hasn’t told anyone his suspicions so far.

And if he did find out and was okay with it…

That’s a big if, but aye, if that happened I’d definitely go for it.

I hope it works out for you.

He smiles warmly at me, and I find myself smiling back. Maybe the little eagle isn’t so bad after all.

So, you and Raj.

What about us?

Casual? Serious?

I’m not about to share my growing belief that Raj is my fated mate, not when I haven’t discussed it with my treasure yet. I don’t want there to be any doubt, though.
