I’m stuck somewhere between passing out and euphoria. My limbs feel so heavy but at the same time I feel like I’m floating, and the sensations building in my body are like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

I feel the panic starting to set in as I near blacking out, yet my orgasm unexpectedly rips through my body. Onyx roars out my name as he fills me, his cock jerking violently within my walls.I gasp futilely for air as shockwaves of tingles speed through my body in a way that I have never felt before.

With great effort, I prise my eyes open. Onyx picks me up and looks into my eyes. Walking me over to the bed, he gently places me down on the covers, untying my hands and climbing into bed next to me. He starts kissing everywhere that he has left bruises.

I feel his arousal still against my leg and the feeling is mutual, but I need a minute to breathe. I can guarantee neither of us will be getting any work done today.

Chapter Thirty-Five

Amelie

I’ve been so busy over the last couple of weeks that it’s been a good excuse to avoid Debbie. I understand that she probably has a really good reason behind what she did, but if I’m being honest I’m hurt. Hurt that she gave me up, that she gave up Bex, and that we never had the chance to grow up together. She also has no idea what Laura did to me and it was all for what, to save her own ass? I have all these mixed emotions that I need to work through before I can face her.

It’s so hard to do that when we have Harold still MIA, this whole trafficking business to shut down, graduation and organising The Order being set up in Australia. The board thought it was a great idea, so we’ve been meeting regularly to also get the ball rolling with that. Add in spending time with my family while they’re here, and the guys, and once again I’m mentally and physically run ragged. Fuck my life sometimes. What I wouldn’t give right this second to be that naïve girl who thought it was funny to let her friends drug her teacher. She had no care in the damn world.

“What are you thinking about?” Slate asks, bringing me back to reality.

We’re in music, and the end of the year event is coming up. It’s an R&B artists night, which has Slate worried. I wanted to skip it, but since I still need to technically graduate early, I have to pass all my classes. Slate has been narrowing down our choice of songs, and he thinks that he has found the perfect song. Him and Aadi were holed up somewhere last night going over our choices. I love that they’re bonding.

This class means more to him than it does to me, and I want it to be perfect for him. We are well and truly behind everyone else with our duet, as my spare time has been practising my solo number. The dance class girls had to choreograph a dance for their end of year assignment, and then teach it to me. Given I don’t have to move much and Slate has started to freak out, I’ve assured him that we can practise everyday after school now that I have my solo sorted.

I’m sure that my Order training can be put on hold. I’m never bloody alone anyway so it isn’t like I need to know more than I do at this point. Once we catch Harold though, I’m going to get them to pull back on the security and following me everywhere I go.

“I’m just happy that you and my brother have found some common ground.”

“He found the perfect song, he even made me sing it to see if I could pull it off. Can you believe what he said to me? ‘I don’t know if your country-ass sounding voice can pull off R&B!’ I don’t have a country voice.”

I snort. “He was just winding you up.”

“I’m sure he was. Did you want to run through your solo first and then we can move on to our duet?”

Slate is in a couple of performances; the advanced students all are. Since I only need to do the bare minimum, I’m only required to do a solo and one duet.

“We can start with the duet, I have my solo down.”

I went with ‘I bring me’ by Star Cast. I started watching Empire with Aadi before I came to the UK. He continued to watch it and gave me updates, until I got my bloody phone privileges back and we could watch it together via facetime. When Star started, we added that to the shows we watched, too. Aadi is obsessed with the lead in that show.

One of Slate's songs is ‘All of me’ by John Legend. The teacher said as long as the artist themselves fell somewhere in the R&B spectrum that it’s fine, and John Legend is R&B soul pop.

“Okay, let’s get your sexy ass in.” Slate nods to the booth he booked for us to practise in today.

Once we’re in the music room, Slate hits a few buttons while I get my headphones on. The music for ‘Let me love you’ by Mario filters through my ears. The recording booth has a screen, and Slate has worked his magic to separate the song where we both individually need to sing.

He joins me in the room, and a guy from our class also joins us. I see him through the glass and Slate nods at him. He sits behind all the electronic gear and watches us, looping the music to start again.

We run through the song a few times until he’s happy we have it down. I know this song well. Aadi loves everything R&B and rap. So by default I grew to love it. Though his tastes lean more towards rap music, which I think is purely down to the company he keeps.

We step out of the booth and Slate and the guy – who I think is called Sean – do a weird fist bump handshake thing.

“That sounded dope,” he gushes to Slate.

“Thanks,” Slate replies. Sean leaves and Slate takes my hands, pulling me into his arms and wrapping them loosely around my waist. Looking up at him, I smile.

“Thank you for doing this. I know how busy you are.”

“I kinda, maybe like you, so that helps,” I tease.

He chuckles. “Just kinda maybe? Could I somehow persuade you into upping that to definitely loving me more than my brothers?”
