“I need to pee.”
“Uh-huh, sure,” Oli muttered, rolling over to face the wall as Skyler successfully landed on the floor.
He tiptoed his way over to where Jermaine and Trevor were sleeping. “Trev?” he whispered, craning his neck to try to see onto the top bunk.
“Hmm,” came the muffled reply.
“I can’t sleep.”
Trevor’s head peered down at him over the edge of his mattress. “These beds are really small, baby.”
“I know,” he said. “I’m sorry.”
Trevor gave him a soft look and said, “Come on up.”
He thought they were being quiet, and he was careful not to step on Jermaine’s mattress, but as soon as he’d made it onto Trevor’s bed, squished in awkwardly up against him—
“I swear to god, if you two start fucking right above my head, I’ll kill you.”
“Relax, dude,” Trevor said. “There’s no room to fuck in these beds.”
Skyler giggled. “Actually, we don’t know until we try.”
“I hate you both,” Jermaine told them.
“Don’t lie, J, you know you love us,” he whispered back.
“Yeah, okay. Now shut the fuck up so I can go back to sleep, please.”
“You got it,” Trevor promised.
After that, Skyler and Trevor didn’t say a word to each other, just silently arranged themselves into the most comfortable position they could. Which wasn’t very comfortable, considering the amount of space they were workingwith. Even so, with Trevor pressed up against him, it didn’t take Skyler much longer to fall asleep.
But the next morning when they climbed down, they were both a little sore. The beds seriously weren’t meant for two people. They were barely big enough for one. Skyler could feel a bruise along his ribcage from where he was pretty sure Trevor’s knee had dug into him at one point during the night.
As Trevor clasped his hands behind his back and straightened his elbows to stretch out his shoulders, Skyler grimaced apologetically. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” Trevor said. “It helped you get to sleep, right?”
“Yeah, but you would’ve been able to sleep better without me in your bed.”
Trevor leaned in to give him a quick kiss. “Technically, that might be true. But I always want you in my bed.”
“You guys are sickening,” Noah told them as he brushed by on his way toward the front of the bus. But there was no real heat behind it.
“At least you didn’t get stepped on,” Oli grumbled, following behind him.
Once they’d gone, Skyler rested his forehead against Trevor’s collarbone. “I wish I didn’t have to be such a baby.”
“You’re not a baby.”
“But you arehisbaby,” Jermaine said, coming up to the pair of them. “Like we all have to hearallthe time.”
Trevor gave him a light punch in the side, but Jermaine put his hand on Skyler’s shoulder and squeezed before walking off, letting him know he was only teasing them.
Still, Skyler knew sleeping in his own bunk was something he’d need to get used to.
He was grateful, though, when he got back on the bus after their show that night and found that Jermaine had switched their beds so Skyler could sleep as close to Trevor as possible without them both being uncomfortable.
