“Did you fucking fuck him, you fuck?” Leon is practically screaming now, and I have to hold back my laughter.
“Not yet. Was planning on it soon though.”
“Please,” he whines suddenly. “Do you want money? Drugs? A trade? I got other guys I can give you.”
Disgust spreads across Whisper’s face, and it’s all I can do not to cuss this loser out. “How much is he worth to you?” I ask, even though the question is repulsive.
“I got… Hold on.” The line goes silent for a minute for two.
Whisper and I stare at each other, both of us silently plotting how Leon is going to die. I know my brother well, so well we don’t always need words.
“Okay,” Leon says, coming back on the line, “I need him back this week and I’ll give you twenty grand, some pills, and my two best boys.”
His offer shocks me. “Well, that’s generous. Why is Rue worth so much to you?”
“None of your fucking business. You obviously wanted him.”
“I do. I want to be the first one to take his tight ass. Why should I give him up to you?”
“No. Please. I need him back.”
Whisper’s eyes narrow, and I know why. Leon has something nefarious planned. Far more than a gang bang.
“Tell me why and I’ll consider your offer.”
Leon grumbles, cursing under his breath, then says, “Fine. I have a deal in the works, but Rue is the main event. His virginity is the prize. It’s fucking rare to find an adult virgin, you know, and my future business partner doesn’t like to fuck with kids. So I spent nine fucking months looking all over this city for a goddamn virgin over eighteen. I can’t start over or this deal is a bust.”
I’m seething with rage, so much so that I can barely continue this charade, but I need to keep it going. I need more information.
“So, what? Your partner gets to fuck Rue first?”
“Yeah, and then, you know, others.”
“What happens to Rue after everyone’s had their fun?”
“I don’t fucking know. Who cares? At that point, I’m in. I delivered on my promise.”
Awfully trusting criminal. He could be talking to an undercover for all he knows. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, I guess.
“So I got money,” Leon continues. “A lot of it. I got a deposit for the party next week. I’ll give you a chunk of it if you give me back Rue.”
“Sure, man. I’ll give him back.”
“Fuck. You will?”
“Yeah. Sounds like too much drama for me. Where can we meet for the drop?”
“Redlight. Where you took him from me.”
“Too public.”
“Nah, I got a back room there. I can do whatever I want.”
“And how do I know you won’t shoot me or have your men jump me?”
He laughs. “Guess you don’t.”
“We need a neutral location.” Whisper slides a piece of paper toward me with words scrawled on it. “How about the old quarry on Rickshaw Road?”
