“No, of course not. I don’t normally...” She sighed, checked her phone, darkened the screen. “I reported it—I want it taken down. I thought you were here because of the video.”
“We are... sort of.” Darnell took out his phone. “You want it taken down?”
“Yes.” Exasperated.
“I can report it for you.”
“Thank you. And because you’re a cop—”
“—detective,” Darnell corrected.
“Sorry, detective. That should get it taken down, right?”
“Ehhh, it’s my personal account.”
“I just want it gone.”
Dr.Reeves’s blue eyes flicked in Vaughn’s direction.
“Sorry, I don’t have TikTok.”
She nodded. Looked to be in physical pain.
“I don’t even know how someone recorded it. I always confiscate the students’ phones before class.” She cocked her head. “Oh, shit, wait a second. I was late, I...” Dr.Reeves stopped herself when she realized she was rambling. “I’m sorry, Detectives. It’s been a day. But if this isn’t about my dad or the video, then why are you here?”?

Ivy’s mind wasswimming again. TikTok, Bae-sian Prof, Zeke, her father, detectives.

“Can I sit?” she asked.
“Of course.”
The thinner of the two cops was young, white, and about her age. The other Black detective was hefty. Like her, he too was sweating.
“You’re not in any sort of trouble,” the Black detective said.
Ivy tried to lower herself gracefully in her chair, but her legs failed to behave.
She didn’t like the sound of that.
In her experience, “You’re not in any sort of trouble” usually meant the opposite.
“I’m sorry, I forgot your names.”
The young cop pointed at himself then his partner.
“Vaughn and Darnell. We’re detectives with the Princeton Police Department. Dr.Reeves, if this is a bad time, we can come back.”
“No... it’s fine. And call me Ivy. Dr.Reeves was my dad.Is... Dr.Reevesismy dad,” she corrected herself.
“Sure, Ivy. We’re here because we have a bit of a math problem we need help with.”
