Killian understood and said he supports me no matter what I decide to do. He even said he was willing to move to New York, if that’s what I wanted.
Just knowing he was willing to do that meant the world to me, but when I thought about it, I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted. I want to be in Ember Falls.
“It’s fine. Just means I’m hanging up decorations. Also, Gary wanted me to let you know that under no circumstances is he taking these girls out to the falls after what happened with the last group.”
I laugh, imagining Gary’s face when they all decided skinny-dipping was on the agenda. “He does realize he works for you, right?”
Killian’s huffs. “Tessa, I love you, but Gary is my only ranch hand and proving to be a trainer, and I’m not losing him over this.”
“I know, I know. I’ll be there in two days, and then I promise I’ll handle everything with Buck Wild.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Do you miss me?” I ask, rolling onto my stomach and kicking my feet up.
“More than you can imagine.”
“I miss you too.”
There’s a knock on the door. “Hold on, my food is here,” I tell him and rush to the door.
However, when I open it, it’s not my food.
It’s something so much better.
“Killian?”
He grins. “Hi, baby.”
I launch myself into his arms, holding on to him with everything I have. “What are you doing here?”
“I missed you.”
“You said you were doing stuff at the farm.”
He laughs and then kisses me. “I lied.”
It’s a lie that I’m not even the slightest bit upset over. “Best lie ever.”
I pull him into my apartment. “Come in. Brianna just left so you won’t get to meet her. I…can’t believe you’re here.”
He wraps his arms around my waist, kissing my neck. “I didn’t want to spend another day apart. Besides, I haven’t been to New York for a while, so I figured maybe my girlfriend would show me around for a few days.”
“A few days?” I ask. “I was heading back to Ember Falls soon.”
“I think we could do with a mini-vacation, don’t you?”
I don’t even know what to say. I’m in shock at it all, but I’m also over the moon happy.
“If you say so.”
“I do. Now, can you pack a bag for a few days? I booked us a room. We have dinner tonight and a show.”
I blink. “We do?”
“Yes, angel, we have a weekend-long date.”
I smile, moving closer, my hands resting on his chest. “Is this another lesson, like your date was?”
