Axel fired the engine, moving Cas’s hands with one of his, he shifted them lower to his waist. “I need to be able to move with the bike, Castello.”

He raised his voice to be heard over the growl of the engine.

Castello smiled against Axel’s cheek. “I like how you say my name.

Smooth, with a hint of fuck you.” His life consisted of missions, hunting, wounds, and killing. Although Axel had come up from a rough childhood, nothing could prepare him for the war they were heading into, and make no mistake, it was war. Drug Cartels and the Irish mob joining forces, that could mean nothing good for the everyday streets of the USA. Finding Axel’s sister, that was going to be rough, and if they found her, there was no guarantee she was going to be the same person she was when she was taken.

Castello’s breath heated, and he double-checked the weight at his ankle.

Yep. Gun was still there and ready to be used if necessary. The battle-worn soldier inside him told him he was taking such a risk to allow himself to get close to this man, while the man inside laughed his ass off. This was all about attraction, sex, and fixing the hurts this man suffered. It was already way too late to worry about letting Axel get under his skin. At this stage all he could do was hope to protect his heart. He could do ‘just sex’ if it came right down

to it… scratch an itch—right? Probably not, he wanted that deep connection, wanted the fire in his soul that came with not just fucking, but he wanted the one thing he’d never had before, sex with one his heart and soul craved. But for right now, he would take being wrapped around Axel for this ride home.

Axel’s entire body reacted with heat, a low growl getting trapped in his chest.Fuck you? Oh no, soldier, I don’t want to fuck you, I want you to fuckme.Hard.But Axel swallowed down the words. He was a dick for even thinking about himself when he should be figuring out what to do next, figuring out why the fuck Brendan Givens wanted him. But even that twist in the fabric of all the shit happening in his life would not stop him from finding Krystal. Kicking the bike off its stand, he gunned the engine and pulled out of the lot.

Chapter 8

“Hey, Boss, you want me to follow those assholes?” Zack pulled the truck to the edge of the driveway but didn’t shut off the engine.

“What?” Castello stepped off the bike and spun to look where Zack was staring down the street after a car.

“You didn’t see them?” Zack asked, “The tails?”

“No.” Even from this distance he could see his second’s eyes widening.

Fuck, tails, what tails?Castello made up his mind right there and then. He was acting like a damn idiot over a man he had only kissed twice, what the fuck was he thinking. Thank fuck he’d had his team following in the truck to watch his six. He slammed everything he wanted, every thought or desire that wasn’t connected to the mission, and pushed it all into a box in his brain. Job first, then see—nope, he shut that down too. “Leave them,” he ordered.

“They will be back.”

“Find me everything you can find on El Mencho.” Castello stalked into the kitchen to grab coffee. “I want everything from when he was born to any connection to Brendan Givens, no matter how small.” Sipping some of the bitter liquid, he ignored the raised eyebrows from his guys. “I want all records on Marc Colgan, everything on his records and off it.”

“You want the stuff we aren’t meant to know?” Sage’s fingers paused on the keyboard, where he had been filling in search parameters as Castello spoke.

“Everything.”

“There is a connection,” Castello was sure of it. This confusing mess of shit had an order. A beginning, a middle, and more. It was his job to bring it to an end. “Find it and we have a starting point.”

“I got those reports on the dudes working as enforcers for Givens.” Sage tossed a folder Castello’s way. “You can find them at Fire every night, from eight p.m.”

“What the fuck is Fire?”

“It’s an MC Clubhouse, out in the boondocks.” Axel told them. “You aren’t getting in there without an MC Patch.”

Castello ignored that for a few minutes, there was no way that he was bringing Axel. It wasn’t happening. He couldn’t think straight while looking at the man. “We have proof they are doing illegal stuff?”

“Yup.” Sage nodded, “It’s all in there. The Miami Dade Sheriff and

some of his guys made a bust a couple of months ago at Fire and found some illegal M-16s. It’s not much, but the serial numbers go back to a shipment that went missing while one of the dudes we are after, Johnson, was stationed at Camp Humphries in Korea.”

“We’ve worked with less before.” Castello fucking loved having Sage and Sawyer working together. They could kick ass on the computer and make connections no one else might see.

“That’s true.” Sage nodded. “You have an issue with me sending a request to Cade?”

“Rock’s tech?”

“Yeah,” Sage nodded at the screen, “He’s got better access to shit than I do. I wanna work with his programs when I grow up.”

“Go ahead.” Castello agreed to the request. While his task force mostly worked alone, he had the authority to request information from other departments if needed. In this instance, he was happy to do it.
