“I’m wondering that too,”Cade muttered,“A fly doesn’t fart in thecommunity without my Boss knowing about it. This would have filteredthrough Noble to Allie at least. Nobody keeps this shit quiet.”

“Noble and his swim buddy Z?” Zack asked.

“Yeah.” Cade knew he couldn’t give too much intel, but also knew that Zack was a former Seal. He would know of Noble Bauer and Zenko Marks.

“I thought you said this was an easy fix. Do some recon, find Axel’s sister, nab a couple of assholes who washed out of basic and decided the mob would pay them more money than the US Army, and go home.” Zack muttered. “Next time you want to help someone your dick takes interest in, Boss, I’m gonna need a pay raise.”

Castello raised his eyebrows and tamped down hard on the urge to punch his second for that shitty, disrespectful remark. He knew Zack well enough to know that all the while he was grumbling and bitching, his brain

was furiously working trying to fit all the pieces together in a way that made sense. From the scowl on his face, Zack was not liking any answer he was coming up with.

“We’ve got to proceed cautiously on this.”Cade ran his fingers through the stubble on his chin.“The Navy aren’t going to like this.”

“Where’s Colgan based these days?” Zack asked.

“Uh, one sec.” Sage clicked through the files until he found the information he was looking for. “He’s no longer military and is currently assigned to a Joint Task Force over at SWAT.”

“Why is this not assigned to NCIS?” Castello asked. “Why us?”

“I don’t know.”Cade told him, “That’s above my pay grade. Wewere asked to pass the video on to you. We’ve done that.”

“Other than the dead dudes being from the Chicago crime family, how does this tie into our mission here?”

“Speculation,”Cade said,“and for now it is only speculation, thatthe Bracalonis are coming to Miami to try and undercut the Diamonds.

That would be bound to cause shit.”He steepled his hands together,“Addthat to the insult given to the Givens family when the Bracaloniskidnapped Kalon a couple of years ago. It is possible Brendan Givenswas willing to let that shit go while they were out of sight. Coming on histurf? Yeah, he can’t ignore it now, especially so soon after taking over ashead of the family from his brother Anthony.”

“Getting someone unconnected to do the hit,” Castello agreed, “That will prevent further back lash, unless they can prove it.”

“Pretty much.”

Castello nodded to Cade, “Thanks for the intel. Zack and I will go pay his old friend a visit. Sage and Sawyer will work with you. Is that good?”

“Yup.”Cade agreed,“Later, Sir.”

Castello knew he didn’t need to give his guys orders. They all knew who would do what. He led the way to the room that was serving as their storage room to gear up. “When's the last time you saw this guy, Z?”

“Sudan.” Zack unzipped his go bag and pulled out odds and ends he liked to carry with him. While they wouldn’t be wearing flak jackets or LBVs, they had lightweight bulletproof vests they could utilize here in the city.

“You got history with him?” Castello’s hands moved over his over-gear.

Checking weapons, adding ammo to pockets.

“We weren’t fucking, if that's what you're asking.” Zack unlaced his boot and fit a knife sheath around his ankle, stuffing a blade into it, before lacing the boot again.

“SEALs work as a team similar to Delta,” Castello reminded him, “You know your team better than you know your blood family.” He frowned at Zack, “Spit it out.”

“Colgan had the tendency to act like a lone wolf, if you know what I'm talking about.”

“For fuck sake,” Castello finished strapping on his vest, “half the time, I don't know what you're talking about, and the rest of the time I just think you’re making shit up.”

“Truck is ready, Boss.” Rafe stuck his head around the door, “Hurry your asses up.”

Castello just raised his eyebrow at Rafe giving orders but finished gathering his gear.

“Sorry,” Rafe lifted one shoulder in apology at overstepping. “Balas is in the truck.”

“You better have made sure it’s not in fucking gear,” Castello muttered,
