Prologue
Piper
Sleeping with the one man I should stay away from was definitely not part of tonight’s plans.
Especially Hunter Wardgrave, of all men.
Losing my virginity to him is another level of madness.
But if I’m going to sell my life tomorrow, I might as well destroy what’s left of me tonight.
The kiss deepens as his hand slips beneath my short dress, squeezing my arse as he groans roughly into my mouth.
“You shouldn’t be here, red,” he growls, biting my lower lip as I rake my fingers through his perfectly put together hair.
“And you definitely shouldn’t let me fuck you. What you should do is—” He rumbles darkly. “—run for the bloody hills.”
At least I can’t say I wasn’t warned. And I know he’s right. I should be running for the hills.
“Only for tonight,” I whisper between kisses, despite my better judgement. “I need this… only tonight.”
I hate the vulnerability in my voice, but it’s the truth.
Only for tonight.
He is the forbidden fruit, the apple that cost them Eden.
And tonight, I’m going to take a bite.
I am going to taste that apple.
His hand moves to the zip of my dress, dragging it down before tearing the fabric off my body, leaving me in nothing but my thong and strapless white bra.
Fitting colour, really.
I shake the thought away before I can give it more meaning than it deserves.
More than it is.
Yes, I’m about to lose my virginity, but it’s just sex.
It has to be.
“You’re out of your pretty little mind if you think one taste would ever be enough.”
“It has to be,” I whisper, crushing my mouth to his again to silence whatever protest is about to leave his lips.
“Stop talking and make me forget,” I murmur.
He narrows his eyes, something dark flickers through them before the corner of his mouth lifts.
“Is that right?” he asks. “You look far too sweet to beg so prettily.”
He lifts me, and my legs instinctively wrap around his waist as he carries me across the room before tossing me onto the bed.
He pauses above me, devouring me with his eyes.
I am sprawled over the sheets, and the way he looks at me makes every nerve ending spark to life.
