Phil’s comment reminded Morgan of her dreams. She’d told Christine and Katherine about them, but she hadn’t yet told Pamela. This was the perfect opportunity.

‘Mmm. This smells divine, even if I do say so myself,’ grinned Pamela, before popping a spoonful of soup into her mouth.

‘It does,’ nodded Morgan in agreement.

The women dipped chunky bread lathered in butter into their soup and ate in silence for a few minutes, savouring Pamela’s exquisite cooking skills.

Morgan swallowed and took a sip of her tea as she looked across the table at Pamela. ‘Do you believe that our departed loved ones can talk to us from the other side, Pamela?’

Pamela looked up at Morgan and swallowed. She continued to stare at her for a while longer silently, and for a moment, Morgan thought she may have upset her friend by asking her such a thing, but then a smile crept onto Pamela’s features, and she nodded.

‘As you know my heritage is Brazilian. Most Brazilians practice the Roman Catholic religion. However, Phil, Pharis and I are Christians and I strongly believe in an afterlife. I also believe in reincarnation. I know my beliefs won’t be shared by all Christians, but that is whatIbelieve.’ Morgan nodded. Pamela dipped her head to one side. What’s brought this on love?’

Morgan looked directly into Pamela’s eyes. ‘I’ve recently had three dreams and I believe three visitations from loved ones who have passed over in my dreams.’

Pamela leaned forward; her intrigue evident. ‘Ohhh really? Were you frightened?’

Morgan shook her head. ‘Not at all.’

‘And what do you think the purpose of these dreams were?’

Morgan answered without hesitation. ‘I think they were messages.’

Pamela’s brow rose. ‘Do you feel like elaborating some more?’

‘I’ve condensed the messages from the dreams, but I believe my loved ones are trying to tell me to stop looking backwards and to stop filling my life with unimportant things.’ Morgan didn’t want to share the message about her needing to stopseeing herself less able than other people and to stop letting her cane and her disability get in the way of living a fulfilling life.

‘Then you should take heed of them. The messages sound quite reasonable, nothing too far out.’

Morgan nodded in agreement. ‘They do, don’t they? I agree. think I should listen to them Pamela.’

Pamela smiled. ‘I think you should as well.’

‘That’s settled then. Instead of taking me home, can you take me to the estate agents please love?’

Pamela’s eyes bulged. ‘What?’

Morgan nodded. ‘Yes. It’s about time I let go of the past. I’m going to put my house on the market.’

Chapter eighteen

Standing in the doorway of the barn with Brett and Ned on either side of her, Morgan’s tummy turned over with nervous excitement as cars pulled up, dropping off members of the community before leaving again to go back to Seagull Bay to pick up another load.

The band was in full swing inside the barn creating the perfect atmosphere for her guests to walk into.

‘Hello and welcome, please go inside and help yourselves to a drink, it’s free.’

Ned rubbed his hand up and down the small of Morgan’s back, it was calming yet distracting. ‘Are you okay Morgan?’

She turned to look at him and nodded. ‘Yes. I just can’t quite believe this day is finally here.’ Pippa came out of the barn and handed over a can of Guiness to Brett and Ned and a glass of wine to Morgan. ‘Thanks love, I need this.’ Pippa grinned at her aunt before retreating back inside the barn.

Ned leaned in close to Morgan’s ear. ‘Is that because you’re relieved the planning and preparation is finally over, or because you’ve joined the super-sexy-sixty group?’

Morgan was taking a sip of her wine and she almost choked on it. ‘Maybe both,’ she chuckled.

‘You look absolutely stunning by-the-way,’ winked Ned.

‘Thank you.’ Morgan quickly turned away before Ned could see the beginnings of her blush.
