Don’t show him the heart you embroidered on the back pocket of your jean shorts.
Don’t wear your hair up or down or in a messy bun.
Absolutely, do NOT kiss him.
If you do any of the above, it’s highly likely that the guy will think about you all the time, day and night.
Yours,
Liam
P.S. Don’t ask about his dog.
P.P.S. Fitz misses you.

I print Liam’s email with the “Ten Things Not to Do” at the library because I don’t have a printer. I also kind of want to laminate it and hang it on my wall. But then I’d get questions about it and... I don’t know. This email exchange with Liam has been the most wonderful thing to happen to me, and I want to keep it between us for just a little longer. Who would ever guess that Liam Darcy could write such a scorching love letter? With each email, I fall for him a little more.
I’m beginning to think maybe things could actually work for us. My original plan was to get my own apartment here. But my first week home, before I even started apartment hunting, I published my third book,All’s Fair in Love, and it’s selling like crazy. The sales of this book have boosted the sales of my other two books. If I keep making money like this, I might be able to afford moving back to Sacramento.
I’ll see Liam again at Jane and Charlie’s wedding, and if that goes well, maybe we can “reconnect.” I can almost hear Char snort-laughing in the background. Char and April are the only two people who know I’m emailing Liam.
Char laughed and said, “What is this 2003? Why are you emailing?” But she has been thoroughly supportive. After the “Ten Things Not to Do” email, she texted:
OMG! Marry him!
After reading just a few messages, April has been adamant: “Don’t mess this up!”
“Why do you think I’ll mess things up?”
“Because I screwed things up with Freddy, and I’m not sure I can ever make things right.”
“I thought things were going better with him.”
“He’s on tour. And we’ve been Facetiming a lot. So that’s promising. But if I could go back in time, I would not let others talk me into breaking up with him. Trust me. When you find love, don’t let it go.”
Both April and Char have a point. And so, I’m trying to be more honest about my feelings in my emails. I can’t quite match Liam’s endearing level of vulnerability and flirtation, but I am trying harder to self-edit a little less.
