Ciaran is waiting for me in one of the private meeting rooms. He’s wearing prison greys and a wicked grin. Incarceration hasn’t dulled his sense of humour.

‘Did you fuck those tits yet?’ he teases.

‘I will fucking kill you one of these days.’ I shake my head, biting back a smirk, and clap my brother on the back, pulling him into a quick hug.

‘How’s prison life treating you? Did you get any action lately?’ I snort.

He smirks. ‘Not yet, but I’m working on it.’

My eyebrows shoot up. ‘Things that bad?’

‘Fuck no.’ He shakes his head at my insinuation. ‘Our new lawyer.’

‘What about her?’ I slide into one of the leather seats at the table, and he drops into the one directly opposite me and waggles his thick dark eyebrows.

‘You’ll never believe who it is.’ He makes the chef’s kiss motion with his fingers. ‘The same woman I told you about that night we were in Dom’s dealing with McAllister.’

‘Oh, fuck, Ciaran. You can’t fuck the lawyer.

‘I already did.’ He smirks. ‘And if I get my way, it won’t be the last time. Legs up to her armpits. Long glossy hair that makes a man want to wrap his hands around, and she has got the smartest, sassiest mouth that I can’t stop thinking about fucking—again.’

‘For fuck’s sake, Ciaran.’ I shake my head. ‘She’s representing you.’

‘Exactly.’ His pupils gleam. ‘I get to spend a lot of time alone with her, tending to very private matters.’

‘Oh fuck, I hope you know what you’re doing.’ I shake my head again.

A short rap sounds on the door, and one of the prison guards pops his head inside. ‘Coffee?’

Clearly, he’s one of The Syndicate’s new recruits. So is the governor. Funny how quickly things improve once money starts moving. ‘Sure.’ I nod, and he closes the door, leaving us alone again.

‘How’s Dad?’

‘Good. He’ll join us shortly. Before then, give me an update.’ Ciaran leans further back into the chair and stretches his legs.

I rest an elbow on the table. ‘Things are kicking off in Belfast.’

His eyes sharpen instantly.

‘Cruz’s sister,’ I continue. ‘She’s taken over what’s left of his operation, along with his cousins.’

That dangerous grin I’ve known my whole life spreads across my brother’s face. ‘Good,’ he says.

I raise an eyebrow.

He leans forward slightly, eyes burning with anticipation. ‘Because when I get out of here…’ His smile turns lethal. ‘We’ll end those fuckers once and for all.’ He cracks his knuckles one by one. ‘And this time, when it comes to the Cruzs…’ His gaze locks with mine. ‘I’ll show no mercy.’
