“Most requested. The guys come here to hang out, talk, drink, watch the girls dance, and flirt with the hostesses. Then they either hit the VIP rooms or go next door to Cayenne to fuck.”

I felt myself go pale. “You mean Daisy goes to the VIP rooms…”

He laughed. “Hell, no. Neither does Glory. I think it’s one of the reasons they’re so popular. They’re unattainable. Guys cop a feel, get a little too friendly, all of that. But we havebouncers,” he gestured to some big, very scary-looking dudes standing in specific areas in bespoke suits with earpieces in. “They take care of anything that needs to be taken care of. We have even more downstairs in Cayenne. Everyone’s well protected here.” His blue eyes locked on mine. “But women like Daisy and Glory? They can take care of themselves. They’re pros. They know just how to flirt to get great tips and have a good time with the guys without getting pawed. Carmen always has new girls shadow the two of them when they first start here.”

I heard some laughter at a table nearby and glanced over. I did a double take. Daisy was sitting in some guy’s lap, throwing her head back and laughing. Then, while I watched, she expertly spun off his lap, stood up, planted a kiss on his cheek, and walked away with a little wave over her shoulder. All the guys at the table watched her go, and it was clear that they’d all love to take her home tonight.

Over my dead body.

“Relax,” Nico read my body language. “Daisy doesn’t fuck around with the patrons.”

My head jerked around at that. “You’re sure?” I didn’t like her sitting in that guy’s lap.

“Yeah. She’s the quintessential good girl. Carmen’s actually a little worried about that leading up to the auction. She’s afraid that all the guys see her as too much of the girl next door and not enough like the sexy bombshell type. She’s got a plan, though.”

Before I could ask about the plan, Daisy was walking towards us. My mouth went dry as I watched her. The tops of her breasts bounced enticingly above the halter neckline, and I was reminded of how well-endowed she was. Her waist was small, but her hips balanced out her chest well, and, as always, her ass was magnificent. I wanted to bite it.

Her eyes were on Nico, giving him the smile I wanted. I saw, as if in slow motion, when her emerald eyes moved over to me. She bobbled, her tray shaking a bit, and her smile dimmed justfor a moment.

Then she was back to herself again. Almost. I could see the difference in her eyes. I bet she wanted to know what I was doing here.

She walked up to us. “Hello,” she said. “Glory tells me you wanted me over here tonight, Mr. Salazar.”

He grinned lazily, his eyes taking her in from head to toe. I wanted to kick him under the table. “Yes. Daisy, I want you to meet Jack Lancaster. We’re looking forward to welcoming him as a new member soon. I know you’ll show him a nice time tonight. Mr. Lancaster toured Cayenne a couple of weeks ago, but tonight he’d like to check out the VIP rooms here in Sugar. I told him you’d be the perfect candidate.”

Her smile seemed nervous to me. “I’ll do my best.”

“I’m sure you will. You’ll be Jack’s personal hostess to show him around and explain what happens in the VIP rooms.” He turned to me. “In Cayenne,” he explained, “there’s a two drink limit. There’s not a limit in the VIP rooms or in Sugar in general. In fact, to make sure Daisy is the best possible hostess for you, I’ve relaxed our no drinking policy for her.”

That was good considering I’d gone well past that already. I studied Daisy. How did she feel about being my personal hostess? Had she known ahead of time? Or did Nico spring this on her?

“Daisy will make sure your drink stays refreshed.” He looked at Daisy. “And you’ll make sure Mr. Lancaster has averynice time, won’t you, Daze?”

She gave a sexy smile, one I’d never seen before, and said, “Of course.”

“I knew I could count on you. Remember, this will help with that issue Carmen was talking with you about as well,” he said giving her a quick wink and a genuine smile.

If anything, I could tell that made her a bit more nervous.

“Sit down with us, please, Daisy. And have a drink.”

Her eyebrows went up, but she did as he asked. He motioned for Glory to come back over. “Bring Daisy whatever she’d like as well, Glory.”

Glory gave Daisy a private smile. “Chardonnay? Or Pinot?”

“Something stronger,” Nico insisted, causing both women to turn and look at him.

Daisy laughed. “Honestly? I don’t often drink anything stronger than wine. Just order me something you think I’d like,” she said to Nico. “Or just ask Nora,” she amended. “She’ll know what I would want.”

“Will do, honeydew,” Glory said and sashayed off.

“Nora’s one of our best bartenders,” Nico explained to me. “And she’s one of Glory and Daisy’s roommates.”

I knew what this meant now. The girls Carmen put at Cinnamon House were girls who were going to be featured in the auction at some point.

“Let’s relax and watch Madeline,” Nico suggested resting back in his chair and watching the stage as he drank.

“Oh, you’ll love Madeline,” Daisy said, and I thought I detected a hint of jealousy in her voice. At least I hoped I did. Jealousy meant that maybe she still liked me a bit after all. “All the guys do.”
