WITH HOSTS QUINNEN JONES, TANNER PACE AND JASON EVANS

Episode 1, Season 2 – 9 September

Quinnen Jones: Welcome back, Showman listeners, to the first episode of the new season. We’re your hosts, San Antonio Bears’ legendary tight end who you might know as Tanner Pace or the bearded giant.

Tanner Pace: All Star running back for the New York Ravens, the one, the only, Jason Evans.

Jason Evans: And last but by no means least, retired from football and currently working on his appalling golf handicap, all three hundred pounds of defenseman, Quinnen Jones.

[laughter]

Quinnen Jones: Alright, before we get into the draft and pre-season camps, let’s do a quick round-up of the offseason. Pace, your off-season socials never disappoint. What, or should we ask who, have you been up to, man?

Tanner Pace: [claps] You know I don’t kiss and tell, Jones. Honestly, though, I had a great off-season. I spent a lot of time out in Arizona visiting my mom and my sister.

Jason Evans: Your sister, Darcy Pace, for any listeners who don’t know, is now officially a Women’s Rodeo World Champion.

Tanner Pace: That’s right, baby. Darcy got first place for barrel racing and second place for breakaway roping.

Quinnen Jones: Did you go to the championship?

Tanner Pace: I did. I go to as many rodeos as I can to support my sister. We think we’re athletes but those women are the real deal. The physicality of the sport, the speed and precision. It’s incredible to watch and I’ve seen how hard my sister trains. She deserved that win and I couldn’t be happier for her. She’s a rockstar.

Jason Evans: I envy those cowboys, and girls, man. They look so cool doing their thing. The boots, the hats, the big old belt buckles.

Tanner Pace: If we weren’t talking about my sister, I’d agree. I’m a sucker for a girl in a cowboy hat and boots.

Quinnen Jones: You Pace kids could start a new Avengers pack.

Tanner Pace: [Laughs] I credit it all to our mom. She taught us work ethic and after raw talent, work ethic is the most important asset a professional athlete has.

Jason Evans: Is your mom into sports?

Tanner Pace: Not really. Watching Darcy and me, sure, but she was a single mom who worked three jobs, took us to every game and training session. My sister and I got scholarships but these sports aren’t cheap. Mom is the real Avenger.

Quinnen Jones: That’s solid, Momma Pace. Shout out to all the moms out there making champs out of their kids. Speaking of champions, you also got up to Canada to see the final game of the prestigious ice hockey Stanley Cup back in May?

Tanner Pace: I sure did. It was an awesome game. Both teams were on fire for the entire series and that final game was electric. Shout out to my buddy, Jax, of the New York Dragons for hooking me up with tickets.

Jason Evans: You mean you didn’t use the line to get in there – “don’t you know I’m Tanner Pace?”

[Laughter]

Tanner Pace: I’m not sure that line works for the final of the Stanley Cup.

Jason Evans: But you’ve used it, haven’t you?

Tanner Pace: I might have gotten a few restaurant bookings using that line.

Jason Evans: And slides into your DMs.

Quinnen Jones: Let’s leave Pace’s relationship status and get into this year’s draft. I’d say both the Bears and the Ravens had some stellar picks this year.

Tanner Pace: Shall I talk to the Bears first?

Jason Evans: You go, man.

Tanner Pace: We got an absolute stud in Michael Jefferson for the defense. I got to watch him play in pre-season and the kid’s solid. We’ve got a few younger players in the team this season, so it’ll be important to make sure we gel on the field and help the rookies grow.
